Sheet Metal Technician (Entry-Level) / HVAC Assistant

What You'll Do

As an entry-level Sheet Metal Technician / HVAC Assistant, you'll gain hands-on experience across plumbing, HVAC, and sheet metal work , both in the shop and occasionally on job sites. This role is designed to expose you to multiple building systems and help you discover a long-term trade path.

Your responsibilities will include:

Assisting with sheet metal, HVAC, and plumbing projects in the shop and in the field

Learning how ventilation systems, ductwork, pipes, and fittings are measured, cut, and installed

Using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively

Reading and learning basic blueprints and layout drawings

Supporting experienced technicians with material handling and setup

Following safety procedures and learning best practices on job sites

What We're Looking For

Required

High School Diploma or GED

Valid driver's license

Basic math skills (fractions, decimals, measurements)

Willingness to learn trade-related math and technical skills

Comfort using hand and power tools (or eagerness to learn)

Nice to Have (Not Required)

2+ years of construction experience

HVAC or mechanical experience

Sheet metal, riveting, or blueprint reading experience

No prior sheet metal or HVAC experience is required - we train the right people.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ankeny, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
