About This Role
Textron Systems is seeking engineers of all disciplines to support the United States Marine Corps Advanced Reconnaissance Vehicle (ARV) program. For this program, Textron Systems has developed the Cottonmouth®ARV, a recon vehicle to be feared and a force-multiplier armed to the fangs with advanced full-spectrum reconnaissance and surveillance sensors. It's expertly designed to defeat threats beyond line of sight and comes complete with cutting-edge technologies that will keep adversaries up at night. Cottonmouth was developed using a Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) that is Ground Vehicle Operating System (GVOS) based employing the Tactical Assault Kit Extended (TAK-X) framework for easy capability integration. This modern vehicle platform has superior mobility capabilities to tackle treacherous off-road terrain and waterways while keeping Marines safe thanks to its advanced survivability suite and Human System Interface (HSI) focus. Amphibious mobility, unrivaled versatility, and electronic warfare capabilities define a vehicle that is adaptable, stealthy and thrives wherever enemies hide. Our teams are engaged in multiple cutting-edge development programs for defense applications.
We are seeking highly skilled Test Engineers to join our dynamic engineering team. This is an interdisciplinary role, enabling the full life cycle development of our products. This role may include supporting development of new products and product upgrades, payload design, integration and test, and development of fielding solutions for our military and commercial customers. Required experience includes hardware and/or software integration, managing requirements derivation and allocation, and successfully working within a collaborative team environment. A desire to take ownership of design efforts to ensure integration of new technology into our vehicles is essential.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for design, development, and execution of tests for products (hardware, software, systems) to ensure quality, functionality, and reliability, creating test plans, writing test cases, identifying defects, and collaborating with development teams for fixes, ultimately ensuring products meet specifications and user needs before launch
Test Planning & Design: Understand requirements, define scope, objectives, and resources, then create detailed test plans, strategies, and procedures
Test Case Development: Write specific test cases and scripts for various tests (functional, performance, security, etc.).
Test Execution: Run tests, monitor the development and production process, and manage controlled testing environments.
Defect Management: Identify, document (using bug trackers), report, and track software/hardware and product defects.
Collaboration & Feedback: Work with developers, process engineers, and management to provide insights, suggest improvements, and ensure quality standards are met.
Reporting: Analyze results, document findings, preparing and presenting Test engineering work products to internal review teams and external customers [AA2] at program milestone reviews.
Interact daily with technical leads, program managers, planners, technicians, and other engineers.
Driving tasks to completion independently - aided by appropriate supervision and mentoring.
Collaborating with others within the workgroup, with other departments, and the customer.
Qualifications
0 - 2 years demonstrated project leadership experience preferred Experience with hardware and/or software integration, managing requirements derivation and allocation, or architecture design
Testing and integrating new technology into our family of Ground Vehicle products throughout the lifecycle of the program.
Executing test engineering tasks - including (but not limited to) requirements analysis, design review support, formal validation planning, test, verification, risk management, and engineering analysis.
Preparing and presenting test engineering work products - including (but not limited to) test plans, procedures, and reports to internal review teams and external customers.
Interacting daily with varying US Government customers, commercial customers, program managers, planners, and technicians.
Experience with Windows and/or Unix operating systems is a plus
Effective and efficient writing and presentation skills
Experience with DOORS, JIRA, and MagicDraw (or equivalent) is strongly preferred.
A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio)
Ability to travel up to 25%
Active Secret Clearance preferred; Secret eligibility required
Driving tasks to completion independently.
Education & Experience Levels
Experience levels will be determined by a hiring team. We are looking for candidates with a bachelor's and/or master's degree in engineering (software, electrical, mechanical, systems, or computer engineering), or a related field. Experience recommendations below.
Level I Engineer: typically, 0-1 year of experience
Level II Engineer: typically, 2 years of experience
