WSP is currently initiating a search for an Intermediate Professional, Electrical Engineer for our Tyler, Texas office. Be involved in projects with our Small Utilities Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges.

This Opportunity

The Intermediate Professional, Electrical Engineer candidate will perform a variety of engineering tasks as assigned by our electric utility clients, including substation, transmission, and distribution. They are expected to maintain WSP's high-quality standards, promote internal teamwork, and meet the needs of our clients.

Your Impact

Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, location data, statistical documentation, engineering studies and surveys, and construction.

Complete training on assigned tasks.

Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business need

Perform the detailed design of low to extra high voltage substations including, but not limited to: Physical design, P&C design.

System relaying and protection, including substation relaying, transmission line relaying, and distribution coordination studies.

Perform the detailed design of distribution lines up to 25kV, including overhead and underground design.

Perform the detailed design of transmission lines up to 345kV.

Support QA/QC for deliverables to clients.

Shall have the ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively within a team setting.

Shall learn, understand, and adhere to department standards and processes while working individually or within a team to complete complex and technically challenging designs for our clients.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university preferably with a power option.

1 to 3 years of relevant post education experience.

Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.

Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.

Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.

Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Must have strong knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering to build on.

Must have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.

Must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.

Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

Engineer in Training Certification.

Prior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline.

A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
