Job Posting: (Administrative Assistant - Logistics Support)

Location: Newport News, VA

Pay: $20-$21/hr

Duration: 12 Months | Schedule: M-F, 7:30 AM-4:30 PM

Work Model: Onsite (hybrid possible after conversion)

Summary

Seeking a detail-oriented Expeditor to support buyers by tracking inbound domestic and international shipments, maintaining shipment visibility, and updating internal systems. This role is operational-not traditional admin work-and is critical to ensuring on-time delivery and accurate supply chain data.

Key Responsibilities

Track inbound shipments and monitor key milestones (factory ship, port departure, customs, delivery)

Update shipment status and arrival dates in Trilogy (ERP)

Maintain tracking documentation in Excel; pull data from SQL tables, Infor Nexus, and carrier sites

Manually track customer-owned freight

Communicate delays, risks, and priorities to buyers, suppliers, and internal teams

Review shipping documents and support import compliance

Partner closely with assigned buyer to prioritize shipments

Required Qualifications

1-3 years in logistics, expediting, supply chain, or import operations

Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, IF, Concatenate, formulas)

Strong communication, organization, and follow-up skills

Experience tracking shipments (domestic or international)

Ability to manage repetitive, detail-heavy work

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with imported products, Incoterms, customs, or freight documentation

Familiarity with Infor Nexus, SQL, Access, or ERP systems

Work Environment

Office-based; potential hybrid after conversion

Fast-paced, high-urgency role supporting critical supply chain operations

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Newport News, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $29.00/hr.
