PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION
The Associate Scientific Director, Manufacturing Analytics is a member of the Manufacturing Analytics team within the Manufacturing Engineering, Digital, and Analytics (MEDA) department within Cell Therapy Technical Operations (CTTO). Your main goal will be to drive decision-making excellence, cost discipline and operational improvements in manufacturing through data analytics, models, and algorithms. You will model and analyze various facets of manufacturing operations and support strategic decision-making across the CTTO network. In partnership with stakeholders across the network, you will define, productionize, and roll out data solutions for manufacturing across the organization, acting as product owner/manager, capturing user requirements, shaping the vision for solutions, and integrating them into business processes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as the lead data scientist for CTTO MEDA Manufacturing Analytics
Serve as the lead data scientist in support of ad-hoc commercial drug product or vector manufacturing investigations
Cultivate CTTO MEDA Manufacturing Analytics' data science technology stack and implement automation to accelerate data science activities and predictive modeling for current & new drug product and vector assets
Define data science best practices including standard run-the-business work processes for Manufacturing Analytics
Design, Automate, Implement, Support routine Multi-Variate Analysis Capability
Lead CTTO planning and decision-making by providing modeling and data analysis expertise where needed. Use cases include but are not limited to:
Create digital twins and run experiments of drug product or vector manufacturing processes to improve on KPI targets
Contribute to improvement of manufacturing success rate and influence process control strategy of commercial drug product and vector through predictive modeling
Leverage AI to improve on CT's key KPIs that include but are not limited to manufacturing success rate, turn-around-time, cost-of-goods manufactured, labor and equipment utilization
Leverage predictive models to identify new features that impact manufacturing success and/or quality
Leverage natural language processing or predictive models to categorize and trend Quality Management System (QMS) data
Conduct scenario modeling for operations and CTTO
Forecast future labor and capacity needs
Drive innovation with large-language models to improve manufacturing & business performance as well as user experience
Contribute to troubleshooting issues with data pipelines
Collaborate with CT teams and cross-functional stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities for productivity and CTTO
Understand manufacturing site operations and capabilities to contribute to process improvement projects and cross-site harmonization initiatives
Partner with CTTO subject matter experts to define, prioritize, and document business requirements, study, and understand the underlying data
Work with sites to define and enforce best practices around data management
Coach/Mentor/Upskill CTTO team members in aspects of data science, AI, and predictive models
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Material Sciences and Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, or related STEM field
Master's degree in Data Science or Statistics a plus
At least 10 years of experience in Biotech or Pharma, in one of the following areas: process engineering, manufacturing, operations, MSAT, or data analytics
Experience building discrete event models for manufacturing operations
Data-savviness (Ability to find, pull, manipulate, interpret, and analyze data)
Hands-on experience with ChatGPT, Claude Code, and similar LLMs
Hands-on experience with data analysis using Python, SQL, or R
Hands-on experience with MS PowerBI, Tableau, or Tibco Spotfire
Knowledge of any of the following is a plus: SIMIO, FlexSim, SIMCA, or multi-physics modeling
Knowledge of gradient boosting algorithms such as CatBoost or XGBoost a plus
Knowledge of Statistics is a plus
Knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma is a plus

Devens - MA - US: $170,650 - $206,793
Madison - Giralda - NJ - US: $159,490 - $193,259
New Brunswick - NJ - US: $159,490 - $193,259
The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee's work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.

Paid Time Off
US Exempt Employees: flexible time off (unlimited, with manager approval, 11 paid national holidays (not applicable to employees in Phoenix, AZ, Puerto Rico or Rayzebio employees)
Phoenix, AZ, Puerto Rico and Rayzebio Exempt, Non-Exempt, Hourly Employees: 160 hours annual paid vacation for new hires with manager approval, 11 national holidays, and 3 optional holidays
Based on eligibility*, additional time off for employees may include unlimited paid sick time, up to 2 paid volunteer days per year, summer hours flexibility, leaves of absence for medical, personal, parental, caregiver, bereavement, and military needs and an annual Global Shutdown between Christmas and New Years Day.
All global employees full and part-time who are actively employed at and paid directly by BMS at the end of the calendar year are eligible to take advantage of the Global Shutdown.
*Eligibility Disclosure: T he summer hours program is for United States (U.S.) office-based employees due to the unique nature of their work. Summer hours are generally not available for field sales and manufacturing operations and may also be limited for the capability centers. Employees in remote-by-design or lab-based roles may be eligible for summer hours, depending on the nature of their work, and should discuss eligibility with their manager. Employees covered under a collective bargaining agreement should consult that document to determine if they are eligible. Contractors, leased workers and other service providers are not eligible to participate in the program.
