Duties Description Under the supervision of the Park Manager 3, SG-23, the incumbent plays a vital role in overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of the Green Lakes State Park, ensuring the safety and satisfaction of visitors while protecting the park's natural and physical assets. The Park Supervisor 1 is responsible for:- Supervising park staff engaged in facility maintenance, groundskeeping, visitor services, and seasonal operations.- Coordinating the scheduling and assignment of work, training employees, and evaluating performance. - Assisting with budget preparation, procurement, inventory control, and revenue reporting.- Ensuring compliance with agency policies and safety regulations.- Responding to emergencies, resolving visitor issues, and supporting public programs and events.- Performing hands-on maintenance work and operating light and heavy equipment as needed.

For provisional appointment, candidates must be meet the following minimum qualifications:Either 1.three years of experience in the construction, operation, or maintenance of a park, recreational facility, or campus; one year of this experience must be at a supervisory level;Or 2.an associate's or higher level degree or 60 college semester credit hours AND one year of supervisory experience in the construction, operation or maintenance of a park, recreational facility, or campus.A park, recreational facility, or campus is defined as a location that offers at least three of the following elements: athletic fields, skating rink, campgrounds, golf courses, hiking trails, historic structures, marinas, picnic areas, playgrounds, recreation programs, swimming facilities or education, environmental or interpretive programming. At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.Employees appointed via the NY HELPS program are restricted for promotional appointment until their position is covered-in to the competitive class by the New York State Civil Service Commission (CSC), or they otherwise obtain permanent competitive status. The CSC has recently covered-in employees who were appointed via NY HELPS on a permanent or contingent permanent basis between June 26, 2024 and June 11, 2025.
