Job Description

Responsibilities

Transmit survey data to proper files in the computer network and acquire data for field use.

Accurately and efficiently clear line, establish points, tape, chain, and level for field survey projects as assigned by the Crew Chief.

Maintain the crew's assigned vehicle, keeping it clean, stocked with necessary equipment, and report any mechanical or safety issues to the Crew Chief.

Load, clean, and store field surveying equipment used by the crew.

Communicate and coordinate effectively with other crew members to ensure timely and accurate project completion.

Observe all safety guidelines and procedures, especially around traffic or active construction sites.

Identify various @types of trees encountered during field survey work.

Assist in training entry-level rodmen as requested.

Cut and clear brush and trees from the line of survey.

Perform physical activities such as standing, walking, using hands, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and lifting/moving up to 50-75 pounds.

Support SUE work by performing heavy labor, using a jackhammer, digging, setting up sites, driving company vehicles, and site clean-up.

Essential Skills

Experience in construction, land surveying, landscaping, labor, and manual labor.

Ability to learn surveying techniques and work outdoors in Florida's climate.

Experience with surveying can lead to a position as an instrument operator.

Experience in utility locating, concrete work, or masonry.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience performing physical work in Florida's elements for 10-hour days.

Willingness to travel out of town during the week.

Reliability and motivation to work hard, learn, and progress in the role.

Aptitude to learn the survey industry with good basic math skills.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Experience in survey, construction, landscaping, or transferable trades preferred.

Must be able to pass a drug, background, and MVR check.

Work Environment

Work outdoors in extreme Florida elements as part of a 2-3 man crew. Work hours are from 6am to 4-5pm, with overtime sometimes required. Plenty of breaks provided. Out-of-town work may be required on occasion, with travel and potential overnight stays Monday through Thursday. Lodging and per diem are provided for travel, which can extend up to a two-hour radius or as far as Pensacola.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tampa, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.00/hr.
