Job Description:
Performs and provides financial statement analysis, monthly reporting, budget support, and proforma creation and analysis for cost efficiencies and savings. Works collaboratively with finance leadership to monitor key performance metrics and opportunities. Develops credibility by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, and financial trends to assist finance and operational leadership in system-wide initiatives. Supports evaluation of financial results by business unit benchmarking to identify opportunities and provide substantive advice on improving financial performance. Develops financial presentations that accurately reflect system-wide financial strategies and performance. Supports connectivity between lead projects and the organization, creating a master switchboard for project visibility and leadership involvement. Represents the Senior Vice President of Finance Operations by attending defined meetings and functions, including participation in committees and workgroups. Coordinates finance leadership within areas of responsibility to ensure consistency of performance and stakeholder experience. Supports achieving financial expectations by providing education and senior-executive insight into causes of financial outcomes. Tracks results of system-wide initiatives within areas of responsibility. Coordinates the agenda for periodic finance meetings. Assists in evaluating current systems and processes, supporting the development and implementation of system-wide standards as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to understand complex healthcare financial models, including the relationship of volume drivers to cost projections and net revenue.
Communication skills to translate these complex models and clearly share those impacts with team members, peers, and leaders throughout the organization, making the complex simple, understandable, and actionable.
Independent thinking, comfortable enough to challenge the assumptions of more senior leaders if those leaders need to consider other alternatives.
Empathy for other hospital department and leaders, including an understanding of how financial models will impact these leaders.
Ability to collect data, perform analysis, organize and present the analysis and recommendations to management in written or oral format.
Working knowledge of healthcare accounting methods and reporting, standards development, costing methodologies, utilization measurements, and financial modeling.
Strong interpersonal, leadership, and managerial skills; self-motivated; effective time management, prioritization, and decision-making skills; able to follow-up and bring closure to issues.
Exercise objective judgment and utilize critical thinking skills.
Proficient computer software skills including Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and familiarity with database networks and financial resources/software such as PeopleSoft and Axiom Budgeting and Costing systems preferred.
Detailed understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Must possess a strong knowledge of hospital operations.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while meeting deadlines; adaptable to work in a project-oriented environment with individuals across the organization.
Understands the need to continue learning, and actively seeks new learning opportunities.
Able to interview & identify quality future team members.
Analytical skills to analyze financial information for financial decision making, organizing and present the analysis and recommendations to management.
Ability to coordinate the development, implementation, and deployment of strategic information and proformas for strategic projects to assist the organization's overall performance.
Ability to form relationships with various levels of hospital team members; able to create an environment for proactive dialogue, collaboration, and accountability.
Ability to work independently, thinking through the next steps proactively to produce a work product that is on time, accurate, and professionally presented to the standards of senior executives.
Understanding of revenue, expense, budgeting, capital, and cost management cycles preferred.
Proven interpersonal skills for small and large group settings.
