Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at Pine Bluff Arsenal. Position serves as an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic. Responsibilities Install, inspect, troubleshoot and repair a variety of commercial and industrial air conditioning equipment and related devices. Use knowledge to test equipment and locate and diagnose problems in commercial and industrial air conditioning equipment. Assemble and install equipment such as thermostats, motors, and outlets. Select proper material needed to install, modify, or repair commercial and industrial air conditioning equipment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform tasks associated with the work of an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic performing simple repairs and installations - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Frequently carries and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 50 pounds. Make repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms where the parts of systems worked on are frequently in hard to reach places. Mechanic is required to stand, stoop, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Works inside and outside, on top of tall buildings, in attic spaces, and in cramped areas with low overhead clearance. Electrical work is usually dirty, dusty, and greasy. Works in controlled areas which requires special safety clothing and face masks. Mechanic is occasionally exposed to the possibility of broken bones, electrical shocks and burns and frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises. Incumbent will be required to work outdoors during inclement or during hot/cold weather conditions. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. This government establishment requires a REAL ID compliant identification for base access One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. The Joint Munitions Command provides the Joint Force with ready, reliable, lethal munitions at the speed of war. JMC's mission is to support the production, storage, distribution, and demilitarization of munitions. This position serves as an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic located at Pine Bluff Arsenal, AR, which is a subordinate installation of JMC.
