Description
The Amazon Center for Quantum Computing (CQC) team is looking to hire an Electrical Assembly & Testing Engineer. This role builds, tests, and calibrates delicate electronic components for quantum computing systems. Candidates must have experience in precision electronics assembly, micro-electronics integration, and basic DC/RF measurements. The candidate will work with cryogenic RF/microwave systems, quantum processor electronics, and precision electrical test equipment. Responsibilities include precision soldering and assembly of PCBs as well as cable assemblies for cryogenic systems, following technical drawings while adhering to strict ESD and cleanliness protocols. The ideal candidate should have excellent fine motor skills, familiarity with basic electrical engineering principles, and strong problem solving and communication abilities. Working effectively within a team environment is critical.
Key job responsibilities
The primary responsibility of this role is precision electrical assembly and integration for cryogenic quantum computing operations. You will assemble, integrate, and package electro-mechanical components including PCB assemblies, cable assemblies, and quantum processors using specialized tools. You will perform high-quality hand soldering including connector attachment, SMT reflow, PCB rework, and assembly/routing of DC/RF harnesses/cables. You will conduct electrical tests using multimeters, Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs), and automated test equipment to verify assembly performance through continuity, isolation and transmission measurements. You will assemble components designed for high vacuum and cryogenic environments. You will follow detailed work instructions, update build logs, generate and update assembly procedures, inspect outside vendor assembly work, and maintain strict electrostatic discharge (ESD) safety protocols.
A day in the life
You will work across teams to assemble, integrate, test, and validate electrical systems for cryogenic quantum computing hardware. You will read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical procedures to execute precision assembly tasks. You will coordinate with stakeholders on electrical integration requirements, documentation, and scheduling. You will wire up qubit control electronic racks and contribute to developing new electrical assembly procedures while maintaining rigorous quality standards. The ideal candidate should embrace a fast-paced startup environment-they must be able to learn quickly, operate independently, communicate clearly, and consistently demonstrate reliability.
