About this Job
The Office of Financial Institutions is responsible for the supervision of various entities which provide financial services to the citizens of the State of Louisiana. The Office is divided into three major divisions based on general @types of institutions regulated - the Depository Institutions Division, the Non-Depository Services Division, and the Securities Division. OFI is committed to developing a highly professional staff that effectively utilizes available resources and makes sound decisions. We are currently seeking to fill a temporary part time Accountant 3 position.
TheAccountant 3position is responsible for performing advanced accounting duties in support of agency financial operations, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, travel expense processing, financial reporting, and budget preparation. This role requires a high level of accuracy, analytical ability, and a strong understanding of accounting principles to ensure compliance and efficiency across all fiscal functions.
Minimum Qualifications
Five years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus two years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
A bachelor's degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus two years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics plus two years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics plus one year of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
This position serves as the principal assistant to an Accountant Administrator 1, who serves as the chief accountant for all accounting, budget preparation and financial reporting duties for the Office of Financial Institutions. As the principal assistant, this position is responsible for assisting with the processing of Accounts Receivable, Travel Expenses, Accounts Payable, Financial Reporting, and Budget preparation.
Examples of Accounts Receivable duties include auditing, depositing, classifying, monitoring, balancing and reporting of Accounts Receivable; preparing revenue correction documents; reviewing and processing refund requests; and preparing quarterly and semi-annual billings.
Examples of Travel Expense duties include auditing, coding, processing, and balancing travel expenses; preparing expenditure correction documents; and reconciling the imprest and zero balance bank accounts.
Examples of Accounts Payable duties include preparing, auditing, classifying, and paying all invoices for goods and services procured; tracking expenditures by category for budget and control purposes; and preparing expenditure correction documents.
Examples of Financial Reporting duties include preparing the quarterly Accounts Receivable report, the quarterly Performance indicator report, and the Annual Financial Report.
Examples of Budget preparation duties include assimilating historical data pertaining to agency activities and preparing budget forms and spreadsheets.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type:This position is a Classified WAE (CWAE). Incumbents in these positions may not work more than 1,245 hours or 1 year, whichever comes first.
Work Schedule:This posting will be a temporary position need 2 to 3 days/week.
Location: Baton Rouge Main Office.
