About this Job
The Office of Financial Institutions is responsible for the supervision of various entities which provide financial services to the citizens of the State of Louisiana. The Office is divided into three major divisions based on general @types of institutions regulated - the Depository Institutions Division, the Non-Depository Services Division, and the Securities Division. OFI is committed to developing a highly professional staff that effectively utilizes available resources and makes sound decisions.
The Accountant position serves as the principal assistant to an Accountant Administrator 1, who serves as the chief accountant for all accounting, budget preparation and financial reporting duties for the Office of Financial Institutions. As the principal assistant, this position is responsible for assisting with the processing of Accounts Receivable, Travel Expenses, Accounts Payable, Financial Reporting, and Budget preparation.
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR
A bachelor's degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR
A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics; OR
An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics; OR
Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Serve as principal assistant to the Accountant Administrator 1 (Chief Accountant), supporting all accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting functions for the agency.
Manage Accounts Receivable processes, including auditing, classifying, depositing, balancing, monitoring, and reporting revenues.
Prepare revenue corrections, process refund requests, and coordinate quarterly and semi-annual billing activities.
Oversee travel expense administration by auditing, coding, processing, and reconciling travel expenditures and related accounts.
Perform Accounts Payable functions, including auditing invoices, processing payments, classifying expenditures, and maintaining accurate financial records.
Track and analyze expenditures to support budget control, and prepare expenditure correction documents as needed.
Assist in financial reporting by compiling and preparing quarterly reports and contributing to the Annual Financial Report.
Support budget development by analyzing historical financial data and preparing budget forms, reports, and spreadsheets.

Appointment Type: OFI requires all new hires to serve a probational period not to exceed twenty-four (24) months.
Career Progression: This position may be filled as an Accountant 1, Accountant 2, or Accountant 3.

The Accountant 2 position has aSpecial Entrance Rateof $48,131.20 /annually
