This position is eligible for hybrid telework. Employees living within 50 miles of the primary work location will be required to work in the office at least 50% of the time each month. Employees may reside outside the state of Minnesota if they live in a state bordering Minnesota and are within 50 miles of the primary work location. For this position the primary work location is: 3400 First Street N., Suite 405, St. Cloud, MN. NOTE -- This vacancy is being posted at two levels: Rehabilitation Counselor, Senior and Rehabilitation Counselor, Career. Only one position will be filled; the level at which the position is filled will be determined by the appointee's qualifications.

This position exists to provide specialized vocational rehabilitation services and medical monitoring in accordance with the workers' compensation law, the rehabilitation rules, and consideration of the rights and responsibilities of the injured worker to facilitate the resolution of a claim for benefits by return to work or other positive result.

Minimum Qualifications

(Senior Level) Bachelor's degree and certification as a Certified Disability Management Specialist or Certified Rehabilitation Counselor AND be a registered Qualified Rehabilitation Consultant (QRC), eligible to be registered as a QRC or QRC intern.

(Career Level) Bachelor's degree and certification as a Certified Disability Management Specialist AND be a registered QRC with 36 months of experience as a QRC (post internship) OR Master's degree and certification as a Certified Disability Management Specialist or Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and be a registered QRC with 18 months of experience as a QRC (post internship).

Knowledge of medical management, medical terminology and vocational counseling theories and techniques that can be applied to assist injured workers with returning to work within their restrictions. The ability to identify and remove barriers that result in clients successfully returning to work.

Knowledge of community-based resources and the ability to collaborate with these entities to remove barriers so clients can successfully return to work.

Knowledge of the Minnesota Workers' Compensation Law, and the Rehabilitation Rules, Department of Labor and Industry policies and VRU procedures to function as a professional objective qualified rehabilitation consultant.

Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with a wide range of backgrounds, who do not share your same culture, ethnicity, language, or other common experiences.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree and certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor or a Certified Disability Management Specialist AND be registered as a QRC with a minimum of 18 months of experience as a QRC (post internship).

Language skills other than English (such as Somali, Spanish, Hmong, Karen or ASL).
