Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to join our team in Towson, Maryland. This Contract to permanent position offers an opportunity to manage complex financial operations, including grant accounting and budget administration. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial reporting and auditing, as well as experience with automated accounting systems.

Responsibilities:

Maintain accurate financial records for multiple funding sources, including grants, using tools like Excel and Workday.

Prepare comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for various grant programs.

Analyze and reconcile accounts, ensuring compliance with audit results and regulatory standards.

Provide detailed accounting records and supporting documentation for both internal and external audits.

Manage balance sheets and expenditure tracking for federal, state, and county grants.

Assist and guide fiscal staff and grantees in understanding financial procedures and compliance.

Conduct periodic audits of grant accounts and lead year-end closing operations.

Participate in budget creation and review processes for federal and state grants.

Oversee loan portfolios, including interest calculations and amortization schedules.

Handle procurement and accounting-related purchases, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to procedures. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited institution.

Minimum of five years of detail-oriented experience in accounting, auditing, or bookkeeping.

Proficiency in accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management, and journal entries.

Strong knowledge of grant accounting and budget administration.

Ability to use automated accounting systems effectively, including handling bank reconciliations.

Intermediate proficiency in Excel for data analysis and reporting.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to interpret laws, codes, and standards while maintaining compliance.
