Job Title: Warehouse Lead Job Description

An automotive parts distributor in the Indianapolis area is seeking a dedicated Operations Specialist to join their team as a Warehouse Lead. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of the warehouse and involves overseeing daily activities and leading a team to achieve operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Facilitate proper training of new and existing team members through a standard training program, ensuring departmental initiatives and industry best practices are included.

Support the day-to-day workflow based on the direction provided.

Maintain warehouse organization and cleanliness.

Assist the warehouse team with daily duties such as receiving, processing, order picking, and pulling for delivery.

Coordinate with internal departments for special handling of tactical challenges and process updates, delivering immediate resolution on issues.

Identify long-term solutions and process enhancements to address logistics and supply chain challenges with the leadership team.

Lead by example and motivate associates to be efficient and productive while promoting a healthy, happy work environment.

Lead the workflow of warehouse processing and coordinate the team to ensure all roles are being fulfilled safely.

Implement new ideas and processes that will drive overall efficiencies.

Report on daily production outcomes.

Essential Skills

Experience in logistics, supply chain, freight, and/or warehouse operations.

Lead or supervising experience.

Material handling experience.

Understanding of MS Office.

Forklift experience.

Pallet jack experience.

Process/detail-oriented.

Ability to plan and monitor freight deliveries and identify problems that can impact the timely unloading, receiving, and put away.

Problem-solving skills in inventory management and movement of goods.

Ability to identify risks regarding OSHA and Hazmat compliance and communicate effectively.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

HS Diploma or GED is required.

Experience with RF scanners, inventory control, shipping and receiving is beneficial.

Proficiency in using material handling equipment such as sit-down forklifts and pallet jacks.

Work Environment

This role is based in a small but expanding operation in Indianapolis, driven by increasing demand. The warehouse is equipped with heating but no A/C; during the summer months, fans are used and bay doors are opened to maintain airflow.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
