Academic Programs Administrator, School of Medicine's Biomedical Graduate Education - Georgetown University Medical Center
The Department & Academic Programs Administrator supports the academic, admissions, student life, and administrative functions of the M.S. in Biohazardous Threat Agents & Emerging Infectious Diseases, MS in Biomedical Advocacy and Policy, MS and PhD in Microbiology and Immunology programs. The position coordinates activities for more than 50 graduate students and works closely with the Department Chair and Directors of Graduate Studies to ensure smooth program operations. The Administrator plays a key role in advancing the department's educational missions by supporting faculty, staff, and students and managing essential administrative and financial operations.
Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
Advise and support ~50 graduate students; track academic progress and compliance
Administer program logistics including course schedules, faculty support, events, and reports
Coordinate graduate admissions, recruitment, and orientation activities
Collaborate with University offices to advance student services and departmental initiatives
Work Interactions
The Department & Academic Programs Administrator reports directly to the Department Chair and works closely with the Directors of Graduate Studies for all graduate programs in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology. The position requires daily interaction with faculty, staff, and students to support the department's academic missions. The administrator also collaborates with the Biomedical Graduate Education (BGE) Dean's office, the Registrar, and the Office of Global Services to ensure effective operations and compliance with policies. Through these responsibilities, the administrator contributes to the department's success and advances Georgetown University's mission of academic excellence and student support.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree is required
1-3 years of administrative, database, and computer experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Suite
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, work independently, and collaborate effectively in a team
High attention to detail, reliability, and ability to maintain confidentiality of data and information

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$20.16 - $31.30
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
