Role Overview:
The School and Youth Program Manager is responsible for managing youth-related programming including homeschool programs, scout programs, youth public programs and school programs for the Indiana State Museum. Responsibilities include identifying strategic growth opportunities, cultivating relationships with families, homeschool co-ops, scout organizations and community organizations and marketing programs. The incumbent is also responsible for assisting in the developing and facilitating camp curriculum and experiences and supporting other programs within the department.
Salary:
This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $53,560 but may be commensurate with education and job experience.

A Day in the Life:
Responsibilities include:
Research, develop, and facilitate curriculum and programs for homeschool, scouting and other youth audiences that align with evaluation data and ISMHS objectives.
Analyze and research trends in youth-related programming for changing needs and interests of the audiences and to take advantage of new opportunities for the museum.
Assist with the development and facilitation of school services including school and outreach programs, assemblies, events and resources.
Assist the camp program manager with writing camp curriculum and facilitating camp programs for school-aged camps. Camps occur during fall, winter, spring and summer break.
Assist with out-of-school time programs as needed.
Connect and collaborate with local and regional youth-serving individuals and organizations.
Purchase, maintain, and prepare materials & supplies for programs. This includes preparing the curriculum, supplies, check-in sheets, and program space before/after the program. Assist with camp preparation and materials during camp seasons.
Evaluate all youth programming on a consistent and regular basis using both observational data and surveys. Use data to adjust activities and curriculum as needed.
Use the reservation system for school and outreach reservations, monitor youth program registrations, create rosters and other reports.
Manage and track youth programs budget.
Work with the Director of K-12 Education to align and implement goals, objectives and learning outcomes with department goals and programs
Work with the development team for youth program grants, including collecting and compiling data, assisting with writing grant reports, and overseeing spending and tracking of grant budget.
Work with marketing and communications staff to develop and implement a marketing plan for all youth programs.
Travel to offsite school programs and special events as needed.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours that may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.
What You'll Need for Success:
Credentials:
Bachelors degree preferred or relevant work experience.
Prefer experience working with youth in a formal or informal educational setting.
Additional qualifications:
Strong public speaking skills and able to show enthusiasm while working with youth and adults.
Excellent project management, communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, long program days during camp season and some weekends.
Experience with Altru or similar program registration platform is a plus but not required
Ability to research and write program curriculum, reports, and evaluations
Ability to work and communicate needs and information to other departments.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Familiarity with ADA compliance rules and procedures and awareness of cultural sensitivity issues.
Have a current Indiana driving license.
Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
