Primary Purpose
Responsible for interaction and communication with retail suppliers operating in the electric and gas retail choice marketplace. Manages daily operations associated with BGE's supplier coordination tariff and wholesale energy operations of BGE as the Provider of Last Resort including transmission and generation metering, supplier load forecasting, energy and capacity scheduling, retail energy settlement, customer billing and EDI (electronic data interchange) functions.
Note: Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
Primary Duties
Guide and direct operations activities of Suppler Interface and Energy Interface teams in the areas of energy forecasting, scheduling, settlement, metering, tie-line, billing and EDI functions. (30%)
Responds to inquiries by Suppliers concerning retail choice issues including transmission service, forecasting, scheduling, settlement, customer switching, metering, billing, etc. Manages issues to resolution. Responsible for dispute resolution, marketplace tracking, and communications. (20%)
Promotes safety, diversity and engages employees in an environment that fosters open communication and high performance. Fosters development and coaching for employees and provides timely feedback regarding group and individual performance. (20%)
Represents Exelon/BGE in external relations with retail electric and gas suppliers, state regulators, consumer and environmental advocates, and the PJM regional transmission organization. Interfaces with several Exelon internal departments such as Legal, Regulatory, Customer and Marketing Services, and Transmission Operations. (10%)
Directs the management of retail choice agreements between BGE and Electric and Gas Choice Suppliers. Responsible for Electric and Gas Supplier registration process. (10%)
Provide direction and guidance in working with Exelon personnel regarding forecasting analysis and reporting. (10%)
Job Scope
Primarily responsible for retail electric and gas supplier interface and communication for BGE. Responsible for administering customer choice at BGE through the management of business processes and systems for supplier interaction. Must champion changes to internal processes and systems as the retail choice marketplace changes and evolves. Manages resolution of retail supplier inquiries and disputes with BGE retail choice processes including forecasting, energy and capacity scheduling, and energy settlement. Also responsible for daily metering and tie-line reconciliation with the PJM RTO.
Interfaces with external groups such as Public Utility Commission staff, Office of Consumer Advocate staff, and PJM ISO representatives. Actively promotes customer satisfaction and employee engagement activities. Provide performance feedback to employees and provide input to Director for final performance ratings and resulting AIP adjustments.
Reports: Direct 6 exempt employees
Accountable for managing operations staffing budget of approximately $600,000.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in business or related field and a minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience, or in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, 9-12 years of relevant experience.
Significant knowledge of processes and functions of the wholesale energy market.
Significant experience in wholesale energy markets, including transmission and retail electric and gas operations.
Knowledge of regulatory and strategic issues associated with electric utility industry restructuring and specifically BGE's retail choice functions and processes.
Strong preference for technical background, financial aptitude, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent communication skills.
Specialized skills in negotiating, leadership, planning and decision making. Proven skills in managing change, influencing regulatory rulemakings and implementing new technologies.
Demonstrated competency in Exelon leadership fundamentals: safety, passion, stretch, focused actionable planning, ownership& accountability, leadership engagement, communication, personnel development, employee involvement, diversity, standardization, continuous improvement and celebration.
Preferred Qualifications
An advanced degree is preferred.
3-5 years of supervisory experience.
Significant knowledge of processes and functions of the PJM wholesale energy market, including energy, capacity, transmission, and settlement constructs.
Demonstrated experience in PJM or other RTO/ISO load settlement, wholesale market operations, or supply procurement, preferably within a regulated utility environment.
Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements affecting Maryland utilities and FERC jurisdictional wholesale market operations.

Annual salary will vary based on a candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $124,000.00/Yr. - $170,500.00/Yr.
