Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Encinitas, California. This role focuses on overseeing financial operations, ensuring precise reporting, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. As a key contributor, you will lead accounting procedures, manage staff, and provide critical insights to support organizational decision-making.

Responsibilities:

Supervise the daily activities of the accounting and administration teams to ensure smooth operations.

Manage month-end close processes, including preparing detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for senior leadership.

Reconcile bank accounts and general ledger accounts on a weekly basis to maintain accurate financial records.

Prepare and deliver timely financial statements, departmental reports, and analyses of budget variances.

Monitor and update cash flow reports to ensure optimal financial resource allocation.

Generate funding reports and collaborate with grants management and fund accounting staff.

Maintain and enforce documented accounting policies and procedures to uphold financial integrity.

Audit financial reports, funder performance, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes while ensuring team cross-training for operational efficiency.

Lead the development of annual budgets and forecasts to guide strategic financial planning. Requirements - Proven experience in month-end close processes and financial reporting.

Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and journal entry preparation.

Proficiency in reconciling accounts and bank statements.

Expertise in analyzing financial data and identifying variances.

Familiarity with government reporting requirements and compliance standards.

Ability to manage and supervise accounting staff effectively.

Advanced skills in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.

Solid understanding of accounting policies and internal controls.
