Position Overview

The General Ledger (GL) Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the company's financial records, ensuring timely and accurate month-end close processes, and supporting overall accounting operations. This role will serve as a key contributor within the Finance team and act as a functional lead and support resource for Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R), without direct supervisory responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

General Ledger & Month-End Close

Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, fixed assets and reclassifications

Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close procedures

Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner

Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company accounting policies

Financial Reporting

Assist in preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules

Support internal management reporting and variance analysis

Assist with year-end audit preparation and external auditor requests

Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable Support

Serve as a lead resource and subject matter support for A/P and A/R processes

Review A/P and A/R transactions for accuracy and proper coding

Assist in resolving escalated vendor and customer issues

Support process improvements and internal controls within A/P and A/R

Provide backup support for A/P and A/R functions as needed

Cost Accounting

Generate inventory reports, analyze for inconsistencies, and identify corrective adjustments

Assist with inventory cycle counts

Work closely with Supply Chain on cost updates and revisions

Internal Controls & Compliance

Maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting

Ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures

Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies

Assist in implementation and documentation of accounting procedures

Additional Responsibilities

Support system implementations or enhancements as needed

Participate in cross-functional finance initiatives

Perform other accounting-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting required

3-5+ years of accounting experience

Experience with general ledger accounting and full month-end close

Experience with JDE a plus

CMA / CPA certification a plus

Skills & Requirements:

Strong understanding of GAAP

Experience with ERP/accounting systems

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Strong analytical and reconciliation skills

High attention to detail and accuracy

Strong organizational and time-management skills

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Collaborative team player with a proactive mindset

Compensation and Benefits

Competitive salary $70,000-$80,000 (based on experience)
