Bowhead seeks Lineman - Telecommunications
Bowhead seeks an experienced Lineman to support Base Telecommunications System operations and maintenance at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, NJ. The Lineman will perform outside plant telecommunications maintenance and support aerial cable infrastructure across the installation.
This position supports the maintenance of extensive aerial telecommunications infrastructure and assists with cable locating and dig permit coordination to ensure safe excavation and construction activities across the base.
Responsibilities
Essential functions will include:
Perform maintenance and repair of aerial telecommunications cable infrastructure supporting the Base Telecommunications System.
Support outside plant telecommunications maintenance activities in accordance with operations and maintenance and work order procedures.
Inspect and maintain aerial telecommunications cabling installed on dedicated and joint-use utility poles.
Support maintenance of approximately 145 miles of aerial telecommunications cable infrastructure.
Perform cable locating, staking, and marking in support of excavation and construction activities.
Support the base dig permit process and coordinate with construction and engineering personnel as required.
Conduct cable mark-outs and underground utility locating activities across the installation.
Maintain accurate documentation of cable locating and marking activities.
Assist with troubleshooting and repair of telecommunications cable faults and outages.
Support maintenance activities involving aerial cable hardware, pole attachments, and related infrastructure.

Qualifications
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Technical training in telecommunications, outside plant infrastructure, or lineman work is preferred.
Years of experience
Minimum of three to five years of experience performing telecommunications outside plant or lineman duties required.
Required skills or certifications
Experience performing maintenance on aerial telecommunications cable systems.
Working knowledge of outside plant telecommunications infrastructure including aerial cabling and utility pole systems.
Experience performing cable locating, staking, and marking activities in support of excavation projects.
Ability to operate cable locating equipment and accurately identify underground telecommunications infrastructure.
Ability to climb utility poles and perform work at heights safely.
Knowledge of safety practices associated with aerial telecommunications infrastructure and construction environments.
Ability to read and interpret telecommunications infrastructure drawings and cable records.
Strong coordination and communication skills when working with engineering and construction personnel.
Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
