Overview

The Mental Health Scheduling Coordinator position provides coverage in the Staffing Office at the Vermont Psychiatric Care Hospital. The Staffing Office is open 24/7 and responsible for ensuring adequate staffing of the Nursing Staff on the inpatient psychiatric units and the satellite secure residential facility among other related duties. It is considered an essential position due to the nature of the work and is required to have an employee present at all times.

\ This temporary position would be filling available shifts due to vacations and other time off for the permanent Mental Health Scheduling Coordinators with some possibility for regular coverage. Available shifts would vary with shift hours on Night Shift (6:30pm-7:00am) and Day Shift (6:30am-7:00pm). There is no guarantee of a minimum number of hours and the maximum number of hours allowed in a year is 1280 hours.

Environmental Factors

Duties are generally performed in a standard office setting and with constant interruptions from telephone calls, visitors, and staff requiring assistance. May have brief communication/contact with hospitalized individuals when in the dedicated care areas of the facility. Some work outside of a regular work schedule may be required. Incumbents may be assigned to different shifts as required to provide 24-hour coverage and may be the sole representative of the Hospital readily available to the public. There may be periods of heavy workloads and tight deadlines.

Working with the public in reception serves as the first point of contact for many visitors, employees, contractors, etc. who can be upset, confrontational, and/or in crisis.

Interaction with patients and with their family members in emotional situations may entail some danger, discomfort, and emotional distress.
