Summary As a Supervisory General Attorney, GS-0905-15, you will be part of Appellate Litigation Services, Office of General Counsel with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. If selected, you will be responsible for planning, directing, supervising and coordinating the activities of the Appeals Division. Responsibilities Assigned various phases of cases under administration of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act, and Americans With Disabilities Act. Represent the interests and responsibilities of the Commission and the General Counsel in the appellate courts of the United States. Supervise the work of a highly specialized professional staff which functions on behalf of the Commission and the General Counsel. Assist in the development of operational, performance, and other major plans for the Appellate Division. Responsible for planning and directing the appellate and amicus litigation program. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications For the GS-15: You must have earned a professional law degree (J.D. or LL.B.) from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association, be an active member of the BAR, and have 4 years of professional legal experience with at least one year being equivalent to the GS-14 level. Professional legal education above the first professional law degree may be substituted for experience required as follows:(a) The second professional law degree (LL.M) may be substituted for one year of experience (b) The third law degree (J.S.D) may be substituted for one year of experience beyond the LL.M. Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements (e.g., time-in-grade and qualification requirements) within 30 days of the closing date specified in the vacancy announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education This position has a basic education requirement listed under the Qualifications section of this announcement. Additional Information Relocation expenses will not be paid.
