Overview

We are seeking a skilled Design Engineer to lead the development of accurate 3D models and technical drawing packages for high-temperature industrial equipment. This role is central to translating engineering requirements into manufacturable designs with Autodesk Inventor as the primary tool. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on modeling instincts, a deep understanding of fabrication processes, and the ability to drive a design from concept to shop floor.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain detailed 3D models and full drawing packages in Autodesk Inventor, including GAs, foundation layouts, P&IDs, erection details, fabrication specs, weld maps, and shipping/lifting requirements.

Own the design lifecycle: develop, review, and revise models to ensure accuracy, constructability, and compliance with project specifications.

Perform engineering calculations and analyses to validate design feasibility before fabrication.

Collaborate with project and fabrication teams during kickoff meetings, design reviews, and technical issue resolution.

Conduct shop and field inspections to verify that fabricated equipment aligns with design intent; review NDE results and as-built dimensions.

Support documentation of design changes and compliance throughout project execution.

Travel domestically and internationally as required to support project milestones.

Requirements

AS Degree or equivalent amount of education + experience

5+ years of experience in 3D modeling and technical drafting for industrial equipment.

Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor.

Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code standards.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).

Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to ~20%).

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with AutoCAD as a complement to Inventor-based workflows.

Exposure to high-temperature or pressure vessel equipment design.

Programming knowledge or eagerness to learn scripting to enhance design workflows.

Prior experience working alongside fabrication shop teams.

Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management processes.
