Job Description:
The Iowa State University Athletics Department is seeking a part-time Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach. This position will work closely with the liberos and defensive specialists, contribute to building a strong recruiting pipeline, elevate our roster, and help fuel the program's momentum. The assistant coach will support the Head Coach in all phases of the NCAA Division I women's volleyball program and have a hand in shaping the team's future through strategic recruiting and mentorship.
What you'll do
Assist with planning practice sessions and competitive coaching situations to enhance a competitive athletic experience;
Identify and successfully recruit academically qualified and athletically talented student-athletes;
Effectively teach, mentor and coach to develop successful and well-rounded student-athletes;
Analyze scouting reports and pre-competition evaluations of opponents to provide effective strategy planning;
Help ensure academic progress and graduation;
Perform administrative and game management duties;
Establish and maintain an environment conducive to the welfare and academic success of the student-athletes;
Establish and maintain effective interactions with students, colleagues, university community, alumni, media and the public;
Commitment to and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulations of the University, Big 12 Conference, and NCAA.
This position requires a high level of volleyball knowledge, a love for analyzing talent and recruiting prospects, excellent work ethic along with strong motivational, teaching/coaching and communication skills. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body. Requires the ability to travel including overnight stays for recruiting and competitions.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree.Experience coaching or competing in volleyball at a highly competitive level (post high school).
Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise coaching female liberos at the NCAA Division I or professional level.
Experience training defensive specialist positions.
Demonstrated ability to recruit and coach highly skilled female student-athletes and have strong recruiting connections.
