Entry-Level Construction Laborer

Looking to get your hands dirty, learn a skilled trade, and build a real career ? This entry-level role offers hands-on experience across plumbing, HVAC, and sheet metal work-both in the shop and on job sites. No prior trade experience required, just a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.

This is a great opportunity for students, recent grads, or career changers who want exposure to the building trades and a pathway toward an apprenticeship or trade school.

What You'll Do

You'll work alongside experienced plumbers, HVAC technicians, and sheet-metal installers while learning the fundamentals of the trades.

Support shop and job site operations by organizing tools, materials, and equipment

Assist with basic plumbing, HVAC, and sheet-metal tasks under supervision

Measure, cut, and help assemble piping, ductwork, and components

Help with demolition and removal of old piping, ductwork, or HVAC systems

Set up work areas, ladders, and scaffolding as needed

Learn basic blueprint reading and layout fundamentals

Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites

Follow safety procedures and use PPE properly

Perform general labor and helper tasks to support the crew

Show up on time, work hard, and be a reliable team player

What You'll Learn

Hands-on experience in plumbing, HVAC, and sheet metal trades

Proper use of trade tools and equipment

Job site safety best practices

Basic blueprint reading and layout

How construction projects run from start to finish

What We're Looking For

High school diploma or GED (or currently working toward one)

Interest in skilled trades or construction careers

Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn

Ability to perform physical labor (lifting, climbing, bending, working in tight spaces)

Basic math skills (measurements, fractions, decimals)

Ability to follow instructions and work well on a team

Valid driver's license or ability to get to job sites

Work Environment

Active construction sites and shop settings

Outdoor and indoor work in varying weather conditions

Frequent lifting (up to 50 lbs regularly; heavier items occasionally)

Standing, walking, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces

Use of hand and power tools

PPE required (safety glasses, hard hat, steel-toe boots, etc.)

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huxley, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
