RE-1 Valley School District is seeking a knowledgeable and student-focused Academic Advisor to support high school students in achieving academic success and planning for postsecondary opportunities.
The Academic Advisor works closely with students, families, counselors, and staff to ensure students remain on track for graduation while exploring college and career pathways.

SALARY RANGE & CATEGORY: $49,532 - $74,132 on Teacher Salary Schedule
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
WORK CALENDAR: 188 days (10-Month working calendar)

Full-time with benefits; 4-day school week (Tuesday - Friday)
POSITION SUMMARY: ** The Academic Advisor supports students in grades 9th--12th by monitoring academic progress, advising on course selection, assisting with graduation planning, and supporting postsecondary readiness. The position collaborates with administrators, and teachers to ensure students remain on track for graduation and future success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Academic Monitoring & Planning
Monitor student academic progress toward graduation requirements
Assist students in course selection and schedule planning
Support development and maintenance of Individual Career and Academic Plans (ICAP)
Identify students at risk of falling behind and coordinate interventions
Postsecondary & Career Readiness
Provide information regarding college admissions, scholarships, and financial aid
Support career exploration and workforce readiness initiatives
Assist with concurrent enrollment and career pathway programs
Collaborate with community colleges, trade schools, and industry partners
Data & Compliance
Maintain accurate academic records and documentation
Use student performance data to identify trends and support needs
Ensure students meet district and state graduation requirements
Collaboration & Communication
Communicate regularly with students and families regarding academic progress
Collaborate with school counselors, special education staff, and administrators
Participate in MTSS, 504, and student support meetings as appropriate
Professional Responsibilities
Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA
Participate in professional development
Support district and building initiatives

Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Student Services, or related field preferred and will be given first consideration
Currently hold a teaching license with appropriate endorsement or have licensure application in process (
Additional coursework required for eligibility toward a Colorado Teacher License
is required or must be completed within an agreed-upon timeframe)
Currently hold a Colorado Substitute Teaching License if Teacher License is not completed
Experience working with secondary students
Strong organizational and data management skills required
Effective communication and collaboration skills required
Knowledge of Colorado graduation requirements and ICAP process preferred
Experience with student information systems preferred
Background in college admissions, advising, or counseling preferred
Bilingual skills preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of high school graduation requirements
Understanding of ICAP and postsecondary planning processes
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to analyze academic data and identify student needs
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to build positive relationships with students and families
Working Conditions
Work is primarily performed in a school office and classroom environment.
Frequent interaction with students, families, teachers, and administrators.
Extended periods of computer use and data entry.
Occasional evening events may be required (e.g., registration nights, parent meetings, college planning events).
Work may involve managing confidential student records and sensitive information.
Fast-paced environment during peak scheduling and graduation planning periods.
Occasional need to move throughout the building to meet with students and staff.
