What You Will Do
Institutional Facilities Division is seeking a results driven and experienced candidate with a background in facility systems and procedure development to advance our team! Institutional Facilities is focused on providing over 250 facilities across the Laboratory with the availability needed for the workforce to conduct their daily operations. The Institutional Facilities division is one of seven organizations at the Laboratory responsible for providing operational leadership and support in the areas of facility maintenance, formality of operations, environmental safety & health, engineering and waste services. Institutional Facilities division provides these services through teams composed of Operations employees with deployed Engineering, Safety and Maintenance employees.
This position will be part of a highly functioning team of 7 supporting the Data Centers of LANL through an exciting reinvestment campaign. The selected candidate will perform routine walk-downs, document reviews, field observations, and coordination within a multi-organizational structure to ensure safe and efficient operation of their facilities. To meet the needs of the Laboratory, the Building Manager will ensure each of their facilities, its systems and equipment, and the operations within are operating safely and predictively while ensuring configuration management and working through operational improvement initiatives. What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Experience with maintenance and operational practices to ensure the safe, efficient, and controlled operation of the facility and/or organization.
Demonstrated excellent customer service and communication skills.
Working knowledge and demonstrated skill in understanding and adhering to documented policies and procedures.
Ability to understand and identify work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and experience with lock-out/tag-out of hazardous energy.
Ability to serve on a periodic and rotating on-call team, respond to abnormal and emergency events during off-shift hours.
Ability to evaluate and recommend solutions to problems regarding facility equipment maintenance and operations.
Experience using software solutions to facilitate work processes.
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret various engineered facility or project documents, drawings, and schematics.
Ability to obtain DOE Q Clearance.
Education/Experience:
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or related technical discipline and 6 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of related experience and education.
At this level, additional training, certifications and/or education may be desirable (Facility Management Professional Certification, Certified Maintenance and Reliability Technician, Lean Methods)
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge and experience operating in data centers and/or with facility systems such as emergency backup equipment, HVAC, building automation or PLCs, cooling towers, water systems, chemical treatment, etc.
Experience leading teams of facility management staff or maintenance technicians.
Ability to develop and implement project plans.
Experience with LANL's hazardous energy policies and procedures and issuing LOTO locks.
Knowledge of Laboratory's organizational structure, and governing and implementing policies, procedures, and instructions
Experience in responding to facility emergencies and abnormal conditions.
Ability to manage maintenance budgets.
Working knowledge with adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, Department of Energy (DOE) orders and Laboratory requirements
Experience working with union employees and subcontractors.
Knowledge of the Laboratory's organizational structure and objectives.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
