About this Job
This position is for a full-time, 12-month, unclassified, in-person faculty position.
This is a grant funded position.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required
Minimum two (2) years of teaching experience at the high school level or above required.
Minimum two (2) years of teaching experience with adult learners is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to teach English Language Arts, Reading Comprehension, and Mathematics independently required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
Experience in and understanding of working with adult students from diverse populations preferred.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, changing environment required.
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic environment required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to communicate effectively with students, staff, and the public in classroom, office, and institutional settings, as well as via telephone and electronic communications, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must be able to use standard office and classroom equipment and software (e.g. computer, projector, copier, phone systems) to perform essential job duties, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must be able to review, prepare, and interpret written and electronic documents, data, and reports.

Job Specification
The Adult Education Instructor provides instruction in English Language Arts (ELA), Reading Comprehension, and Mathematics to adult education students seeking a Louisiana High School Equivalency Diploma or strengthening foundational academic skills prior to or concurrent with enrollment in postsecondary education.
This position requires the ability to independently deliver multi-subject instruction, administer standardized assessments, provide academic advising, and maintain instructional practices that support program performance outcomes in alignment with state and federal adult education reporting requirements.
Instruction is delivered on BPCC's Bossier campus and at assigned off-campus community partner locations, including correctional facilities.
This position requires flexibility outside of traditional business hours, including regular evening instruction and occasional Saturday instruction, to meet the needs of adult learners.
Job Duties and Other Information
Instructional Responsibilities
Develop, plan, and deliver instruction in English Language Arts, Reading Comprehension, and Mathematics across varying academic levels.
Deliver instruction that includes algebraic reasoning, informational text analysis, and extended response writing aligned to high school equivalency standards.
Utilize a variety of instructional strategies including whole-group, small-group, individualized, and computer-assisted instruction.
Contextualize instruction, as assigned, to support workforce and career pathway preparation.
Evaluate student progress using formative and summative assessment strategies.
Assessment and Student Progress
Administer TABE assessments and HiSET Official Practice Tests.
Interpret assessment data to determine instructional needs and readiness for HiSET testing, independently and in collaboration with departmental staff.
Maintain accurate and timely student attendance records in accordance with institutional and grant reporting requirements.
Monitor and evaluate student academic progress on a regular basis using formative and summative assessments.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with state and federal reporting requirements and institutional policies.
Maintain instructional practices that support the achievement of program performance benchmarks related to measurable skill gains, student persistence, and credential attainment.
Advising and Student Support
Conduct individual advising sessions to support student academic and transition planning.
Regularly monitor student progress and provide timely feedback regarding academic performance and readiness for testing.
Make thoughtful and appropriate referrals to internal and external support services in the interest of advancing individual student academic goals.
Participate in enrollment sessions and assessment processes as assigned.
Provide guidance to students regarding academic readiness benchmarks and testing expectations.
Collaborate with College Transition Programs staff to ensure coordinated support services.
Schedule and Instructional Environment
Provide regular evening instruction (no more than two evenings per week) on BPCC's Bossier campus from 5:30pm to 8:00pm.
Weekend instruction (Saturday only) may be required, not to exceed two Saturdays per month from 9:00 am to 12:00pm.
Instructional schedule is assigned based on program needs and may shift semester to semester.
Provide instruction at off-campus community partner locations, including local correctional facilities, as assigned (typically one to two times per week).
Must be able to obtain and maintain clearance to teach in correctional facilities.
Must be able to work in secure institutional environments where personal electronics and internet access may be restricted.
Travel Requirements
Valid driver's license required.
Reliable transportation required.
Same-day travel between campus and off-campus instructional sites may be required.
Must be able to operate a motor vehicle for travel between instructional sites.
Mileage reimbursement is provided in accordance with institutional policy.
Professional Responsibilities and Grant Compliance
Participate in required and ongoing professional development activities.
Contribute to departmental compliance with state and federal grant requirements, including professional development participation, student attendance monitoring, student retention efforts, documentation accuracy, and assessment integrity.
Attend departmental meetings and contribute to continuous instructional improvement.
Maintain instructional standards consistent with state and federal adult education performance and reporting requirements.
Other Duties
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, College Transition Programs.
