Summary You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the COMBAT SYSTEMS DIVISION, ENGINEERING AND PLANNING DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will provide guidance and training for new employees. You will advise engineers and technicians in designs and specifications. You will serve as a liaison with NAVSEA, contractors, and other personnel. You will determine weapons related funding needed to support manning, travel, and material costs for special tasks. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications For GS-12 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience ensuring a timely, economical, and efficient completion of the technical work documents and procedures, including: the work-to-test relationships for assigned Combat Systems mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems. Experience providing guidance for mechanical, electrical or structural engineering projects associated with the functional design, performance of various @types of submarine weapon systems and components. Experience directing the planning, installation, and testing of equipment and systems involved during a ship's overhaul period. Experience preparing and reviewing correspondence, such as Job Summaries, Task Group Instruments (TGI's), Deficiency Logs (DL's) Deficiency Reports (DR's), technical reports, estimates, status reports, instructions and procedures. Experience in negotiating projects with managers and ship force support to gain approval and testing authority. For GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with mechanical, electrical or structural engineering projects associated with the functional design, performance of various @types of submarine weapon systems and components. Experience assisting planning, installation, and testing of equipment and systems involved during a ship's overhaul period. Experience preparing correspondence, such as Job Summaries, Task Group Instruments (TGI's), Deficiency Logs (DL's) Deficiency Reports (DR's), technical reports, estimates, status reports, instructions and procedures.
