Job Description Summary:
The instructor is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities during the day, evening, or weekend via instructional delivery formats to include face-to-face, hybrid, online, and remote. Face-to-face and hybrid classes may be offered on any Prince George's Community College campus, or at off-campus locations. The instructor must remain current in the discipline area and continually explore teaching methods and strategies to engage learners, organize and plan instructional content that accommodates diverse learning styles, and devise appropriate assessment tools that monitor student learning outcomes. The instructor is also responsible for participating in related activities to include professional development, academic advising, curriculum design. The instructor performs all other duties as directed by the Department Chair, Dean of Instruction, or the President or designee.
Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required
Master's degree in Quantum Information Science ( QIS ), Quantum Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, Physics with a quantum specialization, Computer Engineering/Computer Science with an AI or QIS emphasis, or closely related discipline.
A minimum of 1 year of full-time higher education teaching experience in areas such as data science, cloud computing, software development, cybersecurity, information systems, or related technologies
OR
A minimum of one semester of higher education teaching experience in areas such as data science, cloud computing, software development, cybersecurity, information systems, or related technologies combined with at least three years of industry experience in data science, cloud computing, or other related computing fields.
Preferred
Industry experience in one or more of the following: data science, cloud computing, software development, Quantum technologies in academic, cybersecurity, information security, information technology, computer programming, database systems, systems analysis, AI/ML or web technologies.
Demonstrated experience with high-impact teaching practices that enhance student engagement and learning outcomes, such as project-based learning, real-world simulations, or the integration of emerging technologies in the classroom.
Doctorate in Quantum Information Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related emerging-technology field.
Demonstrated experience applying AI or quantum technologies in academic, research, or industry settings.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Evidence of curriculum development or applied research in AI, machine learning, quantum computing, or other emerging technologies.
Experience working with grant-funded initiatives or workforce programs in AI or quantum technologies.
Extent and relevance of educational preparation to anticipated teaching assignments.
Relevance of teaching experience to anticipated teaching assignments in a variety of information technology areas.
Relevance of non-teaching professional experience to anticipated teaching assignments. Examples: Curriculum development, interdisciplinary engagement, work with grant funded programs, industry certification.
Evidence of quality teaching, including faculty evaluation scores and ratings, teaching awards earned, face-to-face and online courses designed, developed and/or revised, etc.
Evidence of knowledge of and experience in employing instructional methods and techniques appropriate to different student learning styles. Examples: Cooperative learning, online teaching, and group projects.
Evidence of currency in professional discipline through industry certification, continuing education, professional development and/or scholarly activity.
Extent of expertise and/or teaching experience in the following information technology areas:
Cisco routing and switching concepts ( CCNA )
Computer graphics
Computer hardware installation, configuration and repair
Information security
Learning management systems (Canvas)
Network administration.
Online teaching experience
Operating systems concepts
Cloud Computing
Programming logic and languages
Programming application development (mobile and gaming)
Project management
Social networking media
Systems analysis
Web technology
Extent, currency, and relevance of professional certifications held. Examples: A+, CCNA , CISSP , IC3, MOS , CEH , AWS , Net+, Security+, etc..9. Evidence of ability to teach effectively within, and contribute positively to, a diverse, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural student population and campus environment.
IBM Quantum Developer Certification
AWS Machine Learning Specialty or Google Professional ML Engineer Certification
Cloud-based quantum or AI platform certifications ( AWS Braket, Azure Quantum, Google Vertex AI)
Candidates with specialization in Quantum Information Science or Artificial Intelligence are strongly encouraged to apply. Experience developing applied learning environments, labs, and pathways in emerging technologies is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions maybe required. Occasionally the ability to physically move and lift materials 5-25 pounds maybe required. An understanding of and the ability to teach, handle, and maintain art related materials, chemicals, and equipment in a safe and responsible manner is essential.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
