The Harborview Rehabilitation Therapies Department has an outstanding opportunity for a Physical Therapist Specialist - Inpatient.
WORK SCHEDULE
Full-Time / 40 hours per week
Rotating/Variable Shifts
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
Lead for physical therapy educational programs including the student and residency programs and any future educational program development
Be responsible for managing, assessing and directing clinical and educational activities for the student and residency programs according to patient/community needs
Under general direction, coordinate and provide leadership within both the student and residency programs in accordance with patient and learner needs
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Create, implement and update standardized training and education materials that are specific to the needs of students, residents and staff. Provide input and specific budget recommendations for allocation of training time and resources designated to the student and residency programs.
In collaboration with supervisor, coordinate development of selected department activities/projects specifically around educational programs to promote delivery of quality physical therapy care.
Establish, delegate, coordinate and supervise program development and quality improvement projects specifically in educational areas. This include facilitation of in-services and provision of current research to develop new department protocols and standards of care.
Provide input in formulating budget, assists in evaluation of departmental performance, and takes action to remain in budget guidelines.
Collaborate with other disciplines and between facilities as appropriate to coordinate continuity of patient care from admission to discharge
Oversee orientation of new staff, including development of workgroup competencies and delegation of mentorship
Independently plan, direct and administer physical therapy evaluation and intervention to patients throughout the medical center
Assess and treats a patient caseload ranging from routine to complex patient problems utilizing training in the evaluation and treatment process
Assist patients to reach their maximum performance and function, appropriate to their hospital stay and medical situation
Supervise students, volunteers, and medical assistants
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy Program, and 2.5 years of relevant practice in physical therapy, and certification in the specialty service; OR Equivalent education/experience.
Current Washington State license to practice as a Physical Therapist.
