The Principal Manufacturing Engineer provides technical and people leadership for a team of Manufacturing Engineers supporting either Assembly or Fabrication operations. This role will leads a team of engineers and is responsible for driving complex manufacturing initiatives from concept through full implementation. Depending on business needs, the scope may include assembly line optimization and capital automation projects, or fabrication operations. This leader partners cross functionally to execute capital equipment projects, improve manufacturing capability, and ensure safe, cost effective, and high quality production processes. The ideal candidate brings strong project leadership experience, the ability to develop and mentor engineers, and a background in either advanced assembly systems or fabrication and welding technologies.
YOUR IMPACT
These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for completion of a complex project on time. Will be responsible for overall project schedule and budget and manage multiple priorities.
Collaborate as needed with other engineering business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally. May have exposure to the external customers and/or industry organizations.
Perform and check complex engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to JLG as well as general industry engineering standards and processes.
Participate in the budgeting process to include recommending capital improvements and preparing justification data as required.
Research, study, and propose use of new technologies to be used in the development of new and improved products.
Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical issues.
Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards. Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures.
Directs preparation of layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material.
Provide subject matter expertise leadership to a technical staff to ensure program success. Assure designs meet customer requirements, statutory requirements, and corporate objectives
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in operations, engineering, or related field.
Seven (7) or more years of relevant experience.
STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS
Project Management experience, PMP certification is a plus
Prior leadership experience
Willing to travel domestically and internationally
3D Modeling experience
3D Printing experience
Welding experience including robotic welding

This position is based in a manufacturing or production environment and may involve exposure to loud noise, dust, moving machinery, or temperature fluctuations.
The role may require standing for extended periods, repetitive motions, lifting items up to 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, climbing, or using tools and equipment.
Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when required.
Visual and auditory acuity are needed for safe equipment operation and effective communication in a busy workspace.

Pay Range:
$92,600.00 - $154,400.00
The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
