Opportunity Overview
The Pilot Line Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for validating the assembly of new Silicon Photonic products to ensure production readiness with a Manufacturing mindset. They will work closely with the Engineering team in the design verification and provide feedback for continuous improvement while supporting production shipments. Knowledge transfer to the volume manufacturing teams will also be a responsibility of this individual.
In this role, you will:
Integrate Practical Validation into Manufacturing
Perform hands-on validation to confirm mechanical designs are production-ready. Provide early feedback to mechanical engineers on CAD designs, focusing on manufacturability, assembly efficiency, and risk reduction before release.
Oversee Assembly for Production Readiness
Work directly with mechanical and manufacturing engineers during build and assembly to ensure designs translate cleanly to the production floor. Identify and resolve design or process issues early to prevent downstream rework.
Improve Manufacturing Processes Using Real-World Build Feedback
Use insights from hands-on assembly and validation to drive manufacturing improvements. Simplify and streamline build steps, tools, fixtures, and workflows to improve efficiency without adding unnecessary complexity.
Develop and Maintain Clear Assembly Documentation
Partner with manufacturing engineers to create clear, practical work instructions and build guides that accurately reflect real-world assembly and validation steps, ensuring consistency and repeatability in production.
Incorporate Field Feedback into Manufacturing Improvements
Collaborate closely with Product Support Engineers to understand field issues and service challenges. Translate that feedback into manufacturing and design improvements that reduce errors, improve serviceability, and prevent recurrence.
Enhance Assembly and Service Clarity for End Users
Improve labeling, fixtures, and assembly clarity so systems are easier to build, debug, and service. Ensure that both manufacturing teams and field engineers can quickly understand system connections and configurations.
Fault Down Work
Ability to solve problems through creative and analytical thinking
Identify root causes and pursue corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence of faults.
Documenting, troubleshooting and isolating moderate to complex problems
Support Continuous Improvement and Knowledge Transfer
Capture lessons learned from NPI builds and early production and share best practices with the manufacturing team. Help train teams on updated processes and improvements to ensure smooth transitions from NPI to production.

Associates degree, or equivalent work experience, required
At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to work independently on time bound projects.
Knowledge of Windows, Client Office, Adobe Reader, understanding BOMs, Revision controls, and ECO's is preferred
Knowledge of six sigma, lean manufacturing, 5S practices, Quality Control problem solving tools and PCBA manufacturing problem is a plus.
Skilled in Excel and creating reports is a plus
Experience in Silicon Photonics and Optics is a plus.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this role is $63,600 - $101,800. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.
Incentive Plan: This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
