Summary About the Position: This position performs executive level support duties and analyses under the general supervision of the Chief of Staff/Deputy Director, Defense Health Network-Atlantic. The duties are designed to evaluate and analyze administrative programs to ensure the smooth daily operation of the Defense Health Network- Atlantic Front Office. Responsibilities Incumbent performs executive level support duties and analyses under the general supervision of the Chief of Staff/Deputy Director. Provides executive support in a one-on-one working relationship. Manage an extremely active calendar of appointments; composing and proofreading correspondence that is sometimes confidential; arranging complex and detailed travel plans, itineraries, and agendas. Research assembles/edits/summarizes a wide variety of subject material pertinent to the organization. Executes administrative policies, determines, and implements appropriate procedures. Establishes internal procedures to secure and adequately control deadlines, progress reports, and directives. Receives high ranking visitors from both the military and civilian communities, to include members of Congress, press and foreign officials. Composes routine and non-routine correspondence based on verbal guidance, personal knowledge, brief notes, or historical correspondence. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes serving as a consultant on executive and administrative matters; manages the operations; initiates, performs and executes directed tasks relative to the mission, programs, and projects. Develops and prepares a wide range of narrative and statistical materials, letters, endorsements, messages, correspondence, reports, office policies, etc., in final form for supervisor's signature. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.
