Microsoft Corporation is hiring a Hardware Engineering (ref. Code ODP10025241278198) in REDMOND, WA.
Duties: Design, develop, modify, or evaluate electronic parts, components, integrated circuitry, or systems related to Microsoft technologies. Research, design, develop, or test computer or computer-related equipment used in the manufacturing and installation of Microsoft technologies. Define design approaches, technical specifications, and parameters for devices. Select materials and components based on analysis of specifications and reliability. Develop test plans and test cases for design testing or proto@type fabrication. Analyze designs to establish intended operating parameters, conduct experimental tests, and perform analyses on data generated from test results to verify and validate whether operating parameters are met. Identify root causes for technical issues, flaws, and design challenges, and develop and implement solutions. Track new developments in the industry, which may include an emphasis on regulatory compliance requirements, quality, security, and suspicious activity reports..
Requirements:
Education and experience: Bachelors in Hardware Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field and 60 months of experience in an engineering occupation.
Specific Skills: Requires 60 months of experience in thermal design, evaluation, and optimization. Must have experience in the following: Thermal Simulation and CFD Simulation, and Thermal Testing; Thermal engineering projects, including planning, execution, and closure; Engineering project activities, including quotes, estimation, planning, resource allocation, and execution; Creating and validating simulation models to predict product performance; Thermal component identification and sourcing; Developing thermal solutions to meet product requirements; Developing, conducting, and analyzing thermal tests to ensure product reliability and performance; Simulation environments, including Fluent, Flotherm XT, Icepak. FloEFD, COMSOL, ANSYS CAE, and Solidworks; CAD environments, including NX, Pro-E/Creo, and Solid works; Engineering change order processes and legacy conversions using PDM/PLM tools; Collaborating with cross-functional teams such as Electronics, Mechanical, and Industrial Design for design improvements; and creating presentations for stakeholders.
The offered base pay range for this specific position (job code ODP10025241278198), based in REDMOND, WA, is $178,600 - $208,600 per year.
Microsoft has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.
At Microsoft certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus, and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.
