Summary
You will serve as a RIGGING WORKER (DIVER) in the Diving Operations Division (Code 760), Lifting & Handling Department of PSNS and IMF.
Duties
Help
You will be performing underwater ships husbandry on waterborne Navy vessels.
You will use decompression tables, open-circuit scuba and surface supplied dive equipment.
You will install and remove cofferdams, blanks, anchors, anchor chain, cleaning and inspecting propellers, moving large heavy items underwater using cranes and rigging gear.
You will be repairing and replacing various ships components.
You will perform salvage diving to retrieve items from the water using various methods like lift bags, cranes, davits, and etc.
You will perform preventive maintenance in accordance with Navy 3M program.
You will operate dive boats, hydraulic systems and all diver support equipment.

You will be required to maintain a current U.S. Navy Second Class Diver or above certification.
You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
This is a bargaining unit position.
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
You may be required to work in poorly lit enclosed spaces, both below and above the water line.
You may be required to work in poor visibility, and on slippery or uneven work surfaces.
You may be required to lifting weights of up to 100 pounds.
You may be required to work in confined areas.
You may be required climb on platforms or other structures and work at excessive heights.
You may dive in cold water, contaminated water, chemical containments, and sewer or industrial outfall.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The incumbent may be required as necessary to perform underwater diving duties and operations. Before performing diving duties, the incumbent must be a graduate of U.S . Navy Second Class Dive school and be a certified U.S. Navy Second Class Diver or above. Diving qualifications are maintained in accordance with OPNAV 3150.27.
This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
This position requires exposure to high noise levels.
PPP applicants will be placed at the FPL, if determined Well Qualified (WQ). To receive priority consideration, the FPL must be the same grade level or equivalent of the retained grade or the grade held immediately prior to separation.
