Summary This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Mid-Atlantic Healthcare Network (VISN 6), Durham Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC), Engineering Department. The incumbent provides administrative support in all areas of the Durham VAMC facilities section. Responsibilities Serves as primary contact and calls for emergency routine repair calls for Engineering Determines the @type of problem and dispatches to appropriate staff. Issues work orders to all Engineering shops based on written, verbal, telephone, and electronic work order requests. Codes work orders to identify work action and assignment to appropriate shop. Reviews work orders for accuracy and closes work orders out using the Automated Engineering Management System (AEMS). Produces monthly reports to document utility system failures and errors, and equipment failures and user errors. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/16/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although physical effort may be required since this position is located within Facility Management Operations. Specifically, will be required to lift, carry, push or pull a variety of materials and equipment such as pumps, motors, fixtures, tools, ladders and testing equipment. Incumbent will occasionally handle, lift, or carry up to 50Ibs, and may have to handle, lift, or carry over 50 pounds. Will also be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel and crouch to review scope and completion of work orders.
