Legrand has an exciting opportunity for aSenior Electrical Engineer (New Product Development)to join theElectrical Wiring Systems Pass and Seymour Teamin Syracuse, NY. This will be a hybrid position, 2 days remote, and 3 days onsite at the facility.The Senior Electrical Engineer (New Product Development) will be responsible for the design, development, and improvement of new and existing products. These activities must support the company's goals of increasing market share and profitability
What Will You Do?
Design, develop, analyze, and test new and existing electrical products to specifications provided by the customer and/or marketing. Product designs contain hardware, software, or firmware based and can use either analog, digital, or mixed signal technology.
Responsible for ancillary New Product Development tasks including competitive product reverse engineering, breadboarding, circuit simulation, PCB layout, electronic component and assembly documentation, and certification lab guidance of product testing through third party submittals.
Responsible for ensuring products are developed on schedule, at cost, and with the proper third-party listing. Requires interfacing with product managers, project engineers, mechanical engineers, firmware engineers, laboratory engineers and FCC/ISED engineers.
Interfaces with and provides technical support to production personnel for release of new test programs, procedures, and equipment, and in design-for-manufacturability.
Directs the investigation, analysis, and approval of suppliers/vendors, new materials, components, technology, bills of material, and engineering practices.
Interfaces with Canadian Standards Association, Underwriters Laboratories, ACB (Fcc/ISED) and other Nationally Recognized Test Labs' personnel to ensure design for compliance.
Performs other similar and related duties as required.
Qualifications
Required Skills
Education:
Minimum Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
Experience:
6+ years of relevant experience in a new product development
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Proficiency in component level, electronic circuit design. Demonstrated design capabilities in power electronics are a benefit.
Demonstrated use of Altium for schematic capture, PCB layout and design documentation.
Demonstrated use of Artificial Intelligence and SPICE simulation toward efficient delivery of electrical designs.
Ability to troubleshoot and analyze product failures. Ability to analyze test results and apply these results to product performance, design-for-manufacturability, and third party compliance requirements.
Must be able to work in a team environment, collaborate with other engineers toward the goals of new product introduction. Must be willing to mentor or coach early in career colleagues toward improved knowledge of electrical theory and good design practices.
Strong computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, e-mail and meeting management software. Ability to use artificial intelligence, internet and web-based resources efficiently and effectively.
Requires strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities.
Must possess excellent project management skills, including demonstrated ability to develop and work to a project plan, establish priorities, work to deadlines and contribute to multiple, simultaneous projects at various stages of work.
Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Must be an effective listener, able to maintain focus to extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information.
Salary Range:$105,500 - $146,600
