Position Summary Do you have experience in fin tech or supply chain tech and a passion for solving hard problems? Walmart is building a small but mighty team to work at the intersection of accounts payable and supply chain, addressing potential issues early in the Inventory lifecycle to ensure accurate and timely payment to our suppliers. We'll gather data and form hypotheses, rapidly build POCs, then test and learn. We'll find agenting solutions that pull data from disparate sources to streamline complex business processes. When we find what works, we'll grow our team and build for Walmart scale. As a Distinguished, Software Engineer you'll be responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of innovative technical solutions. This role entails hands-on development of frameworks, patterns, and proofs of concept for new technologies. The Distinguished, Software Engineer is a critical participant in the planning, design, and delivery of technical solutions, offering expertise and direction throughout the entirety of the project lifecycle. As a key member of a small team, you'll do whatever it takes to achieve results. Key Responsibilities
Lead Design and Development: Architect and develop high-quality, scalable, and performant UI and visualization tools that cater to the needs of Data Scientists, Business Analysts, and Engineers.
User-Centric Approach: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into user-friendly interfaces that enhance the user experience.
Innovative Visualization: Create advanced data visualization tools that help users interpret complex data sets and derive actionable insights.
Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, business analysts, and other engineers to ensure seamless integration of UI tools with the analytics platform.
Agile Practices: Drive effective Agile practices within the team, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality features.
Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of UI components to ensure a smooth and responsive user experience.
Industry Best Practices: Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies, incorporating best practices into the development process.
Documentation and Standards: Establish and maintain documentation and coding standards to ensure consistency and maintainability of the codebase.
What You'll Bring
Extensive Experience: 10+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on building UI and visualization tools for analytics platforms.
Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of front-end technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Redux, HTML, CSS, and modern visualization libraries.
Data Visualization: Proven experience in creating complex data visualizations that are both informative and visually appealing.
Analytical Mindset: Strong understanding of data analytics and the ability to translate complex data requirements into intuitive UI designs.
Leadership Skills: Ability to lead and inspire engineering teams, driving a culture of innovation and excellence.
Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Problem-Solving: High sense of urgency to solve problems and execute solutions with extreme ownership.
Agile Methodologies: Experience in implementing and driving Agile practices within engineering teams.
Performance Tuning: Expertise in performance instrumentation, tuning, and optimization of large-scale UI applications.
Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the analytics domain and understanding of the needs of Data Scientists, Business Analysts, and Engineers.
Preferred Experiences and Exposures
Backend Integration: Knowledge of backend technologies and APIs to ensure seamless integration with the analytics platform.
Design Patterns: Strong understanding of design patterns and best practices for building scalable and maintainable UI applications.
Visualization Tools: Experience with advanced visualization tools and libraries.
Data Analytics: Background in data analytics or related fields is a plus.
Tech Stack: Familiarity with additional technologies such as Node.js, Webpack, Babel, and testing frameworks like Jest or Mocha.
