The expected annual salary range for this role is $69000 - $101000 a year.

Position Overview:
The primary function of the Customer Order Designer (COD) is to provide either (1) mechanical design or (2) electrical design and documentation support for our electrical switchgear and control products. The incumbents for this role will apply their working knowledge of switchgear and control products to solve complex order design requirements. Specific roles will be assigned based on the candidate skillsets demonstrated and the needs of our engineering operations.
This position utilizes CAD technology to perform either (1) 2D/3D mechanical designs or (2) schematic and wiring details. The role requires technical work requiring a high degree of creativity as well as technical design and drafting skills, demonstrating a thorough understanding of basic materials, mechanical and electrical principles, and manufacturing concepts in the development of standard product designs and/or processing of customer orders of the most complex nature.
This includes, but is not limited to engineering designs, collaborating with Customer Order Engineers, Application Engineers and Manufacturing Associates, utilization of design automation software, and producing/maintaining manufacturing documentation.
What you'll do:
Essential Responsibilities:
Work to standard procedures or written and oral instructions from supervisor.
Strong Mechanical and/or Electrical aptitude as well as familiarity in reading schematic diagrams to determine mechanical and electrical design requirements and associated layouts.
For electrically focused roles: Prepare complex layouts, circuit diagrams, sketches and drawings relating to new and modified equipment specifications, as well as from customer engineering interpretation to the general order (CAD).
For mechanically focused roles: Prepare complex layouts, coordinate bus connection details, sketches, 3-D models, flat files, and drawings using CAD 3D models or various other computer programs and software, relating to new and modified designs.
Manage Manufacturing and Engineering Change Notices.
Demonstrate advanced computer skills with ability to learn required software (Bid Manager, AutoCAD, Inventor, Design Automation, MAPICS).
Interpret engineering work packages to develop designs and manufacturing information packages.
Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to solve complex design issues that may arise.
Coordinate with different levels of the organization to ensure schedules are met.
Detailed Bill of Material reviews for editing and accuracy.
Demonstrate the ability to handle multiple projects/assignments/duties.
Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
Associate's degree in an Engineering Technology or Electronics field with at least two (2) years relevant experience with electrical distribution or control products design,
OR a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution. Relevant experience is defined as the use of computer-aided design software to create engineered drawings and/or experience and knowledge of the design and manufacturing of electrical distribution or control products.
Must be able to work in the US without corporate sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
Proficient in AutoCAD and other 3D engineering and design software programs.
Position Criteria:
Understanding and application of drafting standards and techniques (using computer-aided engineering software)
Capability to visualize components, features and assemblies in three-dimensional space
Ability to use required engineering software tools and other common computer software (word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, etc.)
Prior work experience with electrical distribution and control products and demonstratable knowledge on the interpretation of complex design documentation.
