Job description
Northwest Aerospace Technologies ("NAT"), a Safran Company, is the only EASA DOA Certified aircraft interior reconfiguration group in the United States. Focusing on commercial and military aircrafts, NAT provides first class services in design, engineering, quality, certification, and manufacturing for a variety of Blue Chip customers.
The Level 1 Electrical Engineer has the following scope of work:
Support the design, development and substantiation of the installation of electrical components and systems into retrofit aircraft applications.
Firm understanding of fundamental electrical principals such as Ohm's law and Watt's law.
Develop peer review check packages for generated engineering drawings.
Ensure the design content conforms to the company quality system procedures as documented, the customer statement of work, along with applicable certification requirements.
Work with ODA UM's and EASA CVE's to ensure designs are compliant to airworthiness requirements.
Coordinate with engineers from other disciplines within the company to accomplish tasks
Responsible for performing the activities listed in one of the following three electrical disciplines:
System Design Engineering Discipline:
Research existing aircraft data using OEM and vendor portals/drawings
Reconfigure existing aircraft systems to integrate new systems/components
Ensure continued proper function of existing systems after modifications
Create wiring diagrams in AutoCAD
Develop system schematics in AutoCAD
Define electrical interface locations and connections for interior monument installations
Apply Boeing SWPM or Airbus ESPM standard wiring practices
Use standard electrical principles to support new or modified system installations
Develop wire kits (cable assemblies), including defining parts, material specifications, and required processes
Installation Engineering Discipline:
Research existing aircraft data using OEM and vendor portals/drawings
Create wire routing and installation drawings in AutoCAD
Design clamping arrangements and determine opportunities to reuse existing routing
Define aircraft effectivity splits
Apply Boeing SWPM or Airbus ESPM standard wiring practices
Identify critical EWIS routing areas and ensure compliance with wire separation requirements
Research vendor parts data, processes, and specifications (MIL, NAS, BAC, ABS, MS, NSA, BMS, etc.)
Create Parts Lists and Collector Drawings
Develop Engineering Orders (EOs) to guide proper installation sequence for technicians
Substantiation Engineering Discipline:
Prepare the following substantiation documents:
o Aircraft Electrical Load Analysis,
o EMI Ground and Flight Test Plans,
o Transverse Vertical Separation Analysis,
o EWIS Reports,
o Prepare Fuel Separation Analysis
o Disturbed Systems Analysis, Functional Test Plans
o System Safety Assessments
o Fault Hazard Assessments

Candidate skills & requirements
Knowledge and experience:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
Engineering degree preferred or 2-5 years of broad aerospace drafting/design experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD
Skills/Abilities:
Drawing management
Troubleshooting/problem solving
Ability to work within a team
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
Understanding of customer's expectations
Ability to prioritize, multi-task effectively, and work under pressure
