Summary:

As an Applications Engineer specializing in Fiber Optic Cable and Assembly Products, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our products meet the exacting requirements of the aerospace, defense, medical, and industrial markets. Your primary responsibilities will involve working closely with customers and internal teams to provide technical support, product expertise, and customized solutions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
Collaborate with customers to understand their specific technical requirements and challenges. Provide technical guidance and expertise to help customers select the most suitable fiber optic cable and assembly solutions for their applications.
Collaborate with engineering and other technical teams to customize and develop specialized fiber optic products to meet unique customer needs. Evaluate and recommend product modifications or enhancements based on customer feedback and industry trends.
Serve as a technical point of contact for customers, helping with product selection, installation and troubleshooting. Resolve technical inquiries and issues promptly and effectively to ensure customer satisfaction and or provide appropriate escalation guidance and assistance.
Create technical documentation, including draft product drawings and technical specifications, and application notes.
Conduct training sessions for customers, sales teams, and partners to enhance product knowledge and application expertise.
Support product testing and validation to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements. Analyze test data and provide input on troubleshooting and product improvements.
Work closely with sales, marketing, and product development teams to align technical strategies with business objectives. Provide technical input for product roadmaps and product launch activities.
Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies related to fiber optic cable and assembly, including industry standards and competitor offerings. Conduct market research to identify opportunities and potential customers.
Represent ACIT in relevant industry standards committees and working groups, contributing technical expertise to the development and revision of specifications. Monitor emerging standards and regulatory changes, assess impact on products and customers, and communicate implications to internal stakeholders. Support compliance efforts by interpreting standards requirements, guiding design and application decisions, and serving as a liaison between customers, standards bodies, and internal engineering teams.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Proven experience in the field of fiber optic cable and assembly products.
Excellent aptitude for learning and integrating new technical concepts.
Understanding of fiber optic technology, connectors, and assemblies highly desirable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
Competency with relevant software tools including: Microsoft Word, Excel and Project as well as modern CAD software such as AutoCAD, ProEngineer or similar.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
As part of their job duties, the employee must be able to sit, stand, and walk throughout the day while frequently using their hands to handle objects and communicate verbally. Additionally, they may need to reach, stretch, push, pull, crouch, stoop, and occasionally lift objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. This role requires specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
