POSITION SUMMARY:

Supervises the investigation and prosecution of all major criminal cases. Jurisdiction extends county-wide for all criminal cases committed in Bucks County as well as the representation of the Commonwealth in the Court of Common Pleas of Bucks County and in criminal appeals in all appellate, state, and federal courts. Assists various municipal police departments and various state and federal criminal agencies with criminal investigations and prosecutions. Designation of level I, II, or III, for deputy district attorneys is determinative of the attorney's level of experience and level of responsibility in supervision of staff and the degree of seriousness of assigned cases for prosecution

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises and directs staff in carrying out all designated duties effectively.

Screens criminal investigations and prosecutions in all criminal matters.

Performs legal research writes legal briefs and coordinates federal, state and local authorities in the investigation and prosecution of court-related cases.

Participates in consumer education through public appearances and news media.

Handles special assignments from the District Attorney.

Conducts training for the District Attorney both intra-office and to the law enforcement community.

Handles criminal investigations before the Bucks County Investigating Grand Jury.

Serves as the liaison for the County Court Administrator in coordinating the District Attorney's tie-in with the county courts system.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Strong written and oral communication skills. Attorneys will be responsible for all aspects of prosecution of criminal cases including pre-trial, trial, and appellate functions. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Admitted to the Bar before the U.S. Supreme Court, Supreme and Superior courts of Pennsylvania plus two years of experience in a District Attorney's Office.
