Summary:
UNC Health Care is recruiting a full time Aftercare Program Coordinator to join our UNC Children's team in Chapel Hill and Raleigh.

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to coordinate therapeutic groups, outings, and events for pediatric hematology/oncology patients and their families. The incumbent will meet patients and families at various stages of their healthcare journey and facilitate programming to support their evolving psychosocial needs over the course of treatment.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter, demonstrates initiative and innovative thinking, and possesses strong personal and professional boundaries.
Work hours are typically Monday through Friday, 8-4:30 with occasional evening and weekend events. Occasional remote work opportunities available upon request.
Responsibilities:
Inpatient and hospital clinic setting:
Plans, creates and conducts individualized and generalized supportive care programs/ therapeutic intervention experiences for pediatric and adult patients and families in inpatient and clinic settings.- All interactions and programming take into account safety, infection control and risk management procedures to assure patient safety.
Demonstrates ability to shift individual patient/family interactions based on nuances of diagnosis, treatment trajectory, life stage, specific patient needs and interests, resources needed and appropriate health and therapeutic/rehabilitative benefit.
Special initiatives may include School Re-entry, teen programming, preschool programming and individualized interventions designed to enhance the patients abilities to function in life activities while dealing with their diagnosis/treatment.
Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance activities in accordance with JCAHO standards and with hospital and department policies.
Provides customized emotional support as appropriate with patient's age, life stage, injury @type, discharge plan, as bridge to long-term survivorship and engagement with support resources.
Offsite Event Setting:
Plans, implements, and evaluates therapeutic events for patients, family members, staff and volunteers at offsite settings including camps and retreat centers.
Leads programming logistics including planning group schedules, materials, and equipment needs, identifies contract vendors, and liaises with event site contact.
Plans and delegates volunteer and staff responsibilities, task management, training and debriefing for offsite events. Onsite, oversees the work/workflow of event-related UNC Health staff (include nursing) as well as contracted staff, volunteers (ensures vetting process in conjunction with UNC Health Volunteer Services policies and procedures)
Reviews, revises, and ensures adherence with risk management and safety protocols and procedures.
Ensures compliance with state and federal guidelines, UNC Health policies and procedures etc for participant safety at all offsite therapeutic events.
Directs program attendee (patients, loved ones) recruitment and communication with multidisciplinary team members, hospital personnel, and community groups relative to supportive care program activities in compliance with UNCHCS and department policies and procedures.
Provides appropriate risk management and infection control to improve the health, safety and benefit of patients using the facilities.
Assists in donor relations: as key contact/spokesperson, liaison for event-related equipment and needs.
Facilitates data entry and management for all supportive programming related tasks. Facilitates internal and external communications for planning. Coordinates activities with aftercare team members, volunteers, media, vendors, local facility staff, etc. Under the supervision of department leadership, provides communication regarding programs, events and materials with engaged donor groups.
Facilitates the supervision, management, and delivery of routines, schedules and procedures for event support group operations.
Presents and publishes articles related to supportive program experiences and interventions. Participates in the design and implementation of research projects.
Facilitates data entry and management for all supportive programming related tasks. Facilitates internal and external communications for planning. Coordinates activities with multidisciplinary team members, legal office, public affairs, volunteers, media, vendors, local facility staff, etc.
Under the supervision of department leadership, provides communication regarding programs, events and materials with engaged donor groups

Education Requirements:
? Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Child Life Nursing, Social Work, or Chaplaincy.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
? If a Bachelor's degree in Child Life: Certification by the Child Life Certifying Commission.
? If a Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation: Licensed as a Recreational Therapist by the North Carolina Board of Recreational Therapy Licensure (NCBRTL).
? If a Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation: Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).
? If a degree in Counseling: Licensed Professional Counselor or National Certified School Counselor Licensure OR National Certified School Counselor
? If Nursing degree, requires valid NC Nursing License.
? If Chaplain degree, Board Certified Chaplain.
? (Burn Aftercare Coordinator only) If Camp Management degree: Camp Director Certificate issued by the American Camp Association.
Professional Experience Requirements:
