What you'll do...
System-Level Engineering Leadership: Leads the execution of moderately complex software, data, and ML systems within a broader domain, ensuring system reliability, integration, and scalability. Translates domain strategies into actionable system-level implementation plans, aligning teams with platform architecture and operational priorities. Drives backlog prioritization, team capacity planning, and system optimization initiatives to support business growth and technical excellence. Technical Execution & Lifecycle Ownership: Oversees the full software development lifecycle across multiple teams, including architecture, coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance. Champions DevOps practices, observability tooling, and system health key performance indicators to ensure uptime, scalability, and developer efficiency. Implements cloud cost optimization strategies and reduces system friction/toil to improve engineering velocity and reduce operational overhead. AI/ML-Driven Product & Agentic System Development: Collaborates with product and data teams to deliver AI/ML-enabled features, including agentic systems capable of autonomous execution and reasoning. Provides technical oversight of AI integration across platforms using languages such as Python, Java, Rust, and Dart. Integrates AI agents for search, automation, and decision support using frameworks and tools. People Leadership, Culture & Wellbeing: Builds and grows high-performing teams through mentorship, coaching, and active engagement. Sets clear expectations, fosters psychological safety, and prioritizes team wellbeing in alignment with Walmart's values. Enables professional development and succession planning across teams, ensuring long-term talent sustainability. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Roadmap Alignment: Manages engineering dependencies and project execution across multiple products and services. Ensures roadmap and milestone alignment with broader organizational priorities through effective stakeholder management and coordination. Leverages generative AI tools (for example, ChatGPT) for program planning, risk mitigation, and reporting optimization. Technical Ownership: Demonstrates responsibility for deliverables, ensuring solutions meet quality standards and business objectives. Takes initiative to resolve issues and drive projects to completion. Technical Judgment: Applies sound reasoning to make informed technical decisions, balancing trade-offs and considering long-term impacts on system architecture and business goals.
