SUMMARY
This position is responsible for performing a wide range of complex mechanical engineering functions related to the design, testing and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. This individual will provide project solutions, estimates and designs on complex projects relative to budget, performance and schedule.

JOB DUTIES
ENGINEERING
Supporting Projects - developing detailed mechanical design, supporting mechanical assembly and generating technical documentation
Interprets scope and project requirements and develops design alternatives.
Supporting Engineering Team - training, mentoring and collaboration
Works on complex assignments and exercises judgement and initiative to solve problems and make sound recommendations.
Applies a thorough understanding of technical requirements to develop designs that are in accord with project budget.
Designs and specifies a broad array of components and integrates them into a completed system.
Performs engineering calculations as required to support design work.
Generates complete and accurate project documentation including drawings, specifications and calculations.
Provides technical direction and mentorship to less experienced engineers, technicians and interns.
Improves, develops and maintains engineering standards and criteria.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Engineering Leadership - directing and leading project-based engineering teams
Monitors and maintains project schedule and budget
Understands and follows Concept's project methodology
Coordinates billing and review and approves invoices
SALES SUPPORT
Supporting Sales and Proposals - conceptual mechanical design and estimating
Prepares proposal estimates and completes technical research in a timely manner
Provides technical content as requested at sales meetings
Writes project briefs for larger projects
CUSTOMER RELATIONS
Directs customer interaction and garners an understanding of their needs
Meets with customers during the discovery phase as the technical expert
Maintains existing relationships
Develops and fosters new relationships
Provides prompt and courteous response to service and support issues
OTHER
Mentors new team members
Travels to support project and sales requirements
In-depth understanding and ability to apply engineering concepts, principles and theories

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field from a four-year college or university; and over five years of broad-based project management and mechanical project controls experience and over five years of technical experience and mechanical controls; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Job requires specialized computer skills. Must be adept at using various applications including database, spreadsheet, report writing, project management, graphics, word processing, presentation creation/editing, communicate by e-mail and use scheduling software on Microsoft systems and programs. Ability to provide system layout proposal drawings in 2D or 3D models. SolidWorks or ACAD. Ability to navigate automation/control system integration projects across a variety of industries and applications.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
A valid insurable Driver's License is required. A valid passport is required for occasional out of country travel.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and extreme heat (non-weather). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work environment may vary depending on start-up and customer site visit environments. Travel to customer sites is required for this position; 20-30% annually.
