Description

Our client in the Westchester County NY area has an immediate contract opening for a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant will manage key accounting functions, ensure tax compliance, and contributing to process improvements within a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate taxation and general accounting, with the ability to handle complex financial operations and reporting.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and precise reporting.

Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including cash, inventory, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and accruals.

Analyze financial results, providing detailed variance explanations for management reporting purposes.

Prepare federal, state, and local tax filings, including sales/use tax, franchise tax, and property tax, while ensuring compliance with regulations.

Collaborate with external tax advisors to assist in income tax provision preparation and filings.

Respond to audits and inquiries from regulatory bodies, maintaining detailed documentation for compliance purposes.

Support accounts payable and receivable processes by reviewing transactions, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring timely payments and collections.

Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls.

Participate in system upgrades and automation initiatives to streamline accounting workflows.

Requirements

At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within wholesale, distribution, or manufacturing industries.

Demonstrated expertise in multi-state taxation, corporate tax filings, and sales/use tax compliance.

Proficiency in accounting software such as NetSuite or similar platforms.

Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and data analysis capabilities.

Familiarity with inventory costing and transactional accounting processes.

Strong understanding of general ledger functions and month-end close procedures.

Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights
