Summary/Primary Role:
The Medical Assistant II is a certified, experienced clinical support professional responsible for providing comprehensive patient care and administrative assistance with minimal supervision. This position performs a full range of clinical tasks, supports diagnostic and treatment procedures, and assists with patient education. The Medical Assistant II ensures efficient clinical operations, delivers high-quality patient care, and may support the onboarding and training of Medical Assistant I staff.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Perform all Medical Assistant I duties with advanced proficiency.
Prepare exam rooms, equipment, and instruments according to specialty-specific protocols and infection-control standards.
Obtain and document vital signs, medical history, chief complaints, and medication updates in the EHR with accuracy and detail.
Ensure proper sterilization of instruments, equipment readiness, and adherence to safety protocols.
Provide clear patient instructions, reinforce provider education, and support care plan understanding.
Prepare patients for exams and procedures with professionalism, respect, and attention to detail.
Support efficient patient flow by coordinating care between rooms, providers, and departments.
Perform scheduling, documentation, scanning, messaging, and general administrative support.
Manage incoming and outgoing clinical communication with accuracy and professionalism.
Serve as a resource to Medical Assistant I staff and assist with onboarding and skills training as needed.
Identify workflow concerns and participate in solutions that promote efficiency and high-quality care.
Adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, infection control standards, and all regulatory requirements.
Follow established procedures for equipment sanitation, exposure control, and safe clinical practices.
All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, CCMA) required from an accredited program.
Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience preferred.
Completion of a Medical Assistant training program preferred.
Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients and staff.
Demonstrated ability to learn and perform clinical tasks safely and accurately.
Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical setting while maintaining attention to detail.
Basic proficiency with computers and electronic health record systems preferred.
Phlebotomy Certified:
Employees who hold a valid phlebotomy certification and perform phlebotomy duties as part of their role are eligible to receive a $1.00 per hour Phlebotomy Differential. This differential applies to all eligible hours worked while the employee is actively performing duties that require phlebotomy skills. Certification must be maintained and kept current to qualify for the differential.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not have supervisory responsibility; however, the Medical Assistant II may support training and orientation of Medical Assistant I staff.
Expected Hours of Work:
An Employee must work a minimum of thirty (30) hours each week to maintain full-time status for benefits purposes, however the expectations of the position will require an average of forty (40) hours with overtime required as scheduled. Non-exempt employees are eligible for overtime pay in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws, while exempt employees may be required to work additional hours as necessary to fulfill their job responsibilities. Overtime requirements will be determined based on the operational needs of the organization.
The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. When determining an employee's base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, and internal equity). Premier Medical Group also offers a comprehensive set of benefits to compliment the base hourly rate. The base hourly rate range for this position is $21.50-$25.00.
Travel Requirements:
Employees may be required to float to other Premier Medical Group locations based on operational needs. When assigned to work outside of the employee's primary location, a $1.00 per hour Float Differential will be applied for all eligible hours worked.
Work Environment:
This position operates in a clinical outpatient setting and routinely involves direct interaction with patients, providers, and clinical staff. The work environment may involve exposure to infectious disease, bodily fluids, medical equipment, cleaning agents, and varying patient conditions. Standard precautions, PPE, and adherence to safety protocols are required at all times.

This is a safety-sensitive position, requiring alertness, sound judgment, and adherence to patient safety standards at all times.
Regularly required to stand, walk, and move between exam rooms throughout the day.
Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting or moving supplies and equipment up to 25 pounds; occasional assistance with patient positioning may be required.
Ability to use hands for clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, operating medical equipment, and performing procedures within scope.
Ability to communicate clearly in person, by phone, and through electronic systems.
