Summary You will serve as a NONDESTRUCTIVE TEST EXAMINER HELPER in the Quality Assurance Office (130), Nondestructive Test Division, Code 135 of PSNS and IMF. Responsibilities You will assist Nondestructive Test Examiners in conducting Nondestructive Tests and Inspections of a wide variety of structures and components. You will assist in the operation of a wide variety of test equipment such as x-ray generators, pulse echo and resonance ultrasonic generators, magnetic field generators, radiacs, gamma ray isotope projectors, eddy current generators, etc. You will assist in conducting Liquid Penetrant Inspections, Magnetic Particle Inspections, Radiographic Inspections, Eddy Current Inspection and Ultrasonic Inspections. You will work under the direction of a Radiographer-in-Charge (RIC), establishing and guarding radiographic perimeters. You will exercise judgement in the independent solution of minor problems encountered during performance of simple, routine work assignments. You will know how to use the proper tools for specific use during completion of assigned tasks. You will recognize and be able to select materials required to complete assigned tasks. You will perform non-routine tasks associated with Nondestructive Testing when specific instructions are provided regarding required steps to follow for such work. You will make judgments as to the proper sequence of steps while performing assigned non-routine work. You will be responsible for the proper care and handling of the delicate equipment used in performing work of the Nondestructive Test Division. You will be responsible for observing safety rules and regulations as they apply to working with electrical test equipment and industrial radiographic test equipment as well as those normally associated with Shipyard work.
